OK, with a back-of-the-envelope calculation astronomy is 25 turns with bureaucracy, 30 turns without it (at 40% science). That's without golden age. I'm not going to mention numbers like that to banana - they'll be very scared.

I'll send my draft with Swiss' modification in a few hours.

MH makes a good point: Taj is irrelevant. Either we get a golden age for roughly 50 x 8 x +35% beakers = 540, or we get ~700 gold refunded minus a turn of anarchy. Pretty close either way, within a turn or two.

If we won't tell Banana the actual number, can we at least give an estimate of how important Banking is to speeding it? 10 Mercantilist scientists for ~40 beakers/turn cuts our time by at least a quarter.

I sent a hastily-editted email because banana is in the game and I am chatting to him. Maybe I can persuade him to give up banking now.

OK, long chat with banana. The main points:

1) I sent him the email. Halfway through the conversation I asked him "Sorry to be so direct, but what do you think our chances are of getting Banking this turn?". He said our chances were good since we make a good argument, but he would have to go away and consider it. I said OK and that I wouldn't press him on the issue any more today.

2) He was frustrated with Rabbits since they have not replied to his emails and they do not talk in game. I said us too! He has a warrior in rabbit land observing the war.

3) He revealed that PAL have contacted him about his iron now that he has it backl! I didn't realise that PAL don't have iron! He said no and has warned rabbits to defend their iron city with their life. Maybe we could suggest that he gives them iron for a 50-turn extension to his nap (it runs out on T167).

3) I suggested that our aim is to kill templars before PAL kill rabbits so that we can give him military assistance if PAL attack. He said that was a good idea! He wanted to pressure their capital since it only has 2 units and Mozart in it. He is 3-4 turns away from finishing the 6th pavilion and is building barracks.

4) He asked some questions about castles and I answered them.
