      Got It. Plan is ...

      1) Scout NW/SW
2a) if no specials revealed, move the settler 1N
2b) if specials revealed, settle in place.

      Report

Firstly, how to get into the game ... start civ, select multiplayer and select Direct IP, fill in the resulting screen as such taking special care to put in the RealmsBeyond name (or the game will change the in-game name to what ever you put here) ...

Then select our leader and enter the VS password ...

Now, on with the report ... moved the Scout NW, SW to reveal ...

Basically a whole lot of nothing. I didn't move the Settler.

Well, I finished off the turn by moving the settler 1N. We have river cows, which is nice. We also gained another grass hill.

I ended the turn. Next turn I think we should move the scout again and unless there's a really compelling reason, settle on the spot.

Yes, that sounds good. I guess scout N>NW is the best way?

That seems the best move to me.

I'm not so sure about N, NW. I think it is a waste of a move. I tool a peer into the fog there and I think both the the yellow dots (below) are hills - forested hills thus no resources (left most one might be a plains hill, top most a grassland hill). I would suggest red move and then either NW or SW.

I will be very impressed with your terrain analysis skills if you are right about those hills. The only thing I can tell is that we have more forests.

I also think we should move scout W, and then onto a hill. (If there are no hills NW and SW of that spot, might as well go S to reveal more tiles.)

Also what should we research? Large number of forests implies BW. But we also have cows, so AH might be good too. Any other ideas?

Wasn't it you, Ruff_Hi, with the detailed blue marble approval study (and how tiles bleed into each other and so on)?
So, if Ruff says there are resource less forested hills there, I tend to trust him. I am therefore backing "The Scout Moves West" motion.

Hi Guys - can we move the discussion into the discussion thread. Thanks.

I moved the scout and settled on the spot. Please head to the discussion forum to choose our first tech and build! I selected a worker and animal husbandry as a placeholder.

Right, well, in the spirit of Democracy I renamed our capital to Airstrip One and pressed Enter!

Good work, sooooo. (As an American, I have almost eight years of RL experience living under a similarly "democratic" regime.) Better than funky color names.

I played but in this period of scouting will just post a screenshot every alternate turn.

And that is exactly when they decide to reload the game. Maybe we should post every screenshot to be on the safe side. (Can you replay the turn from memory?)
