Well, if they don't have internet, then they won't need to patch MP now will they...

Yes but the problems were included in LAN from release, which you guessed it, doesnt need an internet connection. If you assume they all have internet connections and will download patches to keep with your marketing strategy then you deserve to fail. Im talking about IG.

Picture the scene, somewhere a Father just bought a copy of PTW to play over a LAN with his Son this Christmas Day, they dont have an internet connection, lets hope they are one of those holy few that have no problems.

Thats the minority though you say, well yes it is. Does that mean they deserve something that has a cat in hell's chance of working just because they dont have an outside line going into their computers?

Thats beside the point. Or do you think everyone with a LAN has an internet connection?

I was just wondering if the number was less or more than the 22% listed before.

I have yet to see (serious) lags in the online games I have played. Just be choosy about who you play with and make sure your computer is in order.

Yes, PTW has warts. Yes, you have to get patches. The Firaxis team has done a good job with providing patches and assistance.

Give it up you purvayors of negativity. Who you crappin'?
Give it up you sycophantic apologists for Firaxis and its shoddy beta products. I told you to expect this load of junk months before it came out. And at $30 for a crummy MP, and a few minor SP features, it is another rip-off that was rushed to market just in time for the Holiday buying season, as was Civ 3.

But don't worry. You, the shrinking cadre of True Believers, the Firaxis Faithful, will soon be the only people left on the forums. You can then tell each other how great it is and find new excuses for the latest Firaxis foulup.

Even with almost all the critics of Civ 3 long gone (Jimmytrick, Zykla, et al) from the forums, the polls here still show considerable dissatisfaction with Firaxis, a company I won't deal with again.

No go download the latest patch.

Am I to understand that you are currently leading a game programming project of some sort? If so, I'd like to hear more about it.

My main role in it all is in setting the tone, and tying the pieces together so that the end result has a nice, consistent feel.

In a solid year's time (well, as of Jan 17th it'll be a year), we've lost four of our 25+ volunteers. Some are more active than others....some have more time than others, but everybody loves the process.

                  That's why we'll get there....

Yes, he is. It's a TBS game called The Courts of Candle'Bre. The Alpha version is currently at version 19 and an open Beta will follow.
We are always looking for people to help us with various aspects of the game, especially graphics and programming.

I'm sure Vel will give you a full account when he sees this, but if you haven't found the following forums yet you might want to check them out.

                    Candle'Bre forum at Apolyton:

especially this thread:http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=65377 ... which is a press release I wrote that explains a little about the project.

If you read the backstory you will know why it is Candle'Bre.

I am one bloke who WILL BUY this shoddy beta product with crummy MP which has not yet been rushed to market in Australia. I have no interest in MP but I look forward to being ripped off buying this load of junk anyway so I can have the minor SP features and spend time downloading patches.

i don't think the pay for more content/patches thing will work unless it's a massive multiplayer game like everquest or shattered galaxy(great game btw). of course if all the game companies have a silent agreement and form a secret cartel it'd work because there'd be no other choice.
