  • Firaxis, please give me back high scores (HoF)!

please, firaxis, i dont know if its a bug or feature but i want to play modded games to my liking and not be penalized by being unable to record my high scores in hall of fame. if you want to force us to play default rules, then why even give us an editor? please, this is important to me for i dont want to waste time playing and not have my scores logged because i would then forget how well i did in my games! why are u punishing people who like to modify things with an editor so they can play the game the way they want to?

I have to agree. I just finished my first PTW game and was very disappointed to NOT SEE my score posted. Now Minmaster is saying it has to do with modding. Not sure if that is the reason, but WHATEVER the reason is, it should be changed, and all finished games should have a shot at the Hall of Fame.

Any mod that uses custom rules or player data will not be entered in the HOF. I'd like it to be entered with the name of the mod (maybe sorted by mod name then score) in the entry.

I agree with Warpstorm, I really can think of no good reason not to allow modded games to be recorded.

Besides the obvious cheat unit with a/d/m shot up to enormous values.
But, that's why they would have the name of the mod with it

Do you think you can convince someone at Firaxis??? It seems I can't, like others like me having reported it. I think they should rework the HoF, and your idea about sorted by mod, sorted by custom rules, is good.

Falconius, you're not the only one: I've spent 43 hours for my first PtW game ( huge map, altered rules ) and not listed in the HoF. At least, they should have mentioned about this in the manual. They didn't and it's a lack of professionalism.

I don't have PtW yet so maybe I'm talking nonsense, but:

When you edit your civ3.bix directly instead of using a scenario, it shouldn't notice that it's a modification.

Or aren't you allowed to change the civ3.bix anymore?

doesnt matter...editing civ3.bix will still disable logging of scores

I had this issue with the first few games I played. I did not see new scores. I delete the HOF and replayed the two games I had and they recorded. It turns out that I downloaded a save game in between the first game of mine and the next one, that stopped the HOF. I would like them to do some thing about that and at the same time made the HOF have more info displayed. Add some additional data and flag the non std games. Give us a tool to look at the HOF or make it a straight RTF file, so I can use wordpad. This would let me see what has been done with out loading Civ.

Switch, who cares if someone cheat his/her game in single player to gain more points? AFAIK you can't play MP if every player haven't the same game value, anyway, so you can't cheat in MP, too.

If the highest value can give me a great prize I'd like to have a strong method to secure the result, but as is it's unnecessary.

I suppose that Firaxis can't store different ranks for every mod we use, because of data structure they use to record the points earned.

It would be best to have seperate HoF for different MODs.

I agree, that would you would be comparing apples to apples and not apples to oranges. A high score for one mod is meaningless when compared to a different mod.
