Am I the only one who who

    a) thinks it's really funny that there's a patch before the product is release?

    b) is pissed off that Infogrames forced the rush-release of PTW, just like they did with Civ3? Bet that's why we're not getting a goddamned scenario editor!!!!

I just returned from my local Game Stop store with PTW in hand (the box is still warm ) and logged onto Apolyton and see this note about a PTW patch!

IMHO, I wouldn't knock Firaxis too much for doing this since it probably means that they got the game out to us earlier then if they were to fix these things first.

Will never visit GameSpy, as Multiplayer is something I will not use.

          ...
So, if you are in a long-running MP game, what happens if a patch is released? Must you wait until the game is complete? This may cause aggravation in PBEM games.

and it's quite obvious that some bugs fixed, non-existent before PTW, were (again) skipped or forgotten or delayed by previous beta testing. I really hope that doesn't bring Civ III back EXACTLY to the smac days when the economy system was all messed up at higher diff levels when playing Crossfire before its first patch.....

Good question! This might be a problem. If not the game will be compatible backwards, but not the other way around. Was that what you meant, Mike?

No but if one of the players applies a patch, the other players will not be able to continue the game until they also apply the patch.

OK. Sounds okay for me. Thanks for the reply, Mike!

OK, -I am a fan, and can't wait until I get my copy,- which will be as soon as it is available in the UK. But you gotta laugh at the list of bug fixes, I mean how the heck does this happen-

                          Utterly amazed

So I get my copy delivered to me at work today and during my lunch break I install it on my laptop...a perfect espionage mission.

I am sitting at my desk with this maniacal grin from ear to ear and day dreaming abount how nice it will be to get home and start playing. I log onto the forums to see what other people's initial reactions are, and I see...

A patch has been released! A game that has been in the hands of the consumers less than 1/2 day and already there is a patch.

Now I have the shivers...What can I expect to be wrong with this game next?

Tehy had to fix a bug that allowed the player to win even though they had really lost?!?!?!?

Wouldn't a minor detail like this be something that would have been tested before it went gold?

Uh, the scenario editor was released free of charge in the 1.29 patch months ago.

                              Huff

I bought this (mostly) for the MP. I have not yet seen more than 1-3 games listed. Each time I attempt to join a game it crashes for me and everyone in the room. And this is after the 1.04f patch!!!

The game does not work or does not work in full. Whats with this and how long is it going to take for them to write a finished product?

thats happened to me... i mean, a lot of those dirty pirates, but we, i mean they, assumed that would be fixed before release.

anyway, i should be getting it tomorrow (friday the latest), and i'll be prepared for FULL UBER RIOT MODE if something is sub par
