There will still be patches for normal Civ : I don't remember what the 1.21f bug was, but I've seen a Firaxian telling an apolytoner it will be fixed.
Since Civ3 has sold well, I suppose they'll try to have a good image, esp. because of the rushed release in October. So I assupose they'll align on Diablo II : Blizzard releases patches for Diablo2 and Diablo2XP at the same time. The new features of the XP are not in the original, but it is still supported, bugs are fixed, completely new features adn game balancing are implemented etc.

We know PtW will have scenarios and multiplayer. That's 2 advertised new features. I think there will be a scenario editor because they'll need a tool to create them. But this scenario editor itself can come in a patch, with the other bug fixes. We'll still have to pay for MP and scenarios.
(dreaming) Maybe they'll even let download 2 free scenarios, as it was promised in the LE (/dreaming)

I expect probably $39.99 minimum, maybe even $49.99 US.

Whether I will buy it or not depends on what's in it and how much. Typically, about a month after it hits the shelves, many games have a $10-15 US off sale. I got Civ 3 for $32 US while it was still $49.99 US at a sale.

Is there is an expected release date, and why hasn't Firaxis commented? Since I haven't read all the fora, they may have and I just haven't seen it, but our host is good about highlighting something like that on the front page.
