Personally, I think EVERYTHING - and I Include diplomacy in that - should be done within the game.

That is another point...We should not make any diplomatic negotiations that are not allowed within the game...trade negotiations could be made by e-mail as they can take many turns of a PBEM-Game...what I mean are military alliances that are not in the standard rules...like telling where one's troups will go to next turn....

well I'm neutral on #1. I'm fine with it the way it is.
#2 would be nice thing to do. But again war is not nice
. I know there are no information messages like SMAC
, but I guess this will reward the player who pays close attention to their empire. So I think #2 should be optional.
oh and turn sent

good point. Hadn't thought of that. Another good reason to keep it 'inside the game".Originally posted by CerberusIV
As for a formal declaration of war in the thread, it would reduce the incentive to have embassies as you would not need them quite as much to know what is going on.Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

Even with an embassy, you don't know who started the war.
But, it is clear that you don't want extra rules.
So be it.
Don't let this stop you to post some diplomacy here though.
( These 'turn sent' messages can get boring after a while.
