i think the first thing that made me go 'whoa' was oil on coast tiles. especially those in north canada. i posted my thoughts about the resource placement earlier in the thread, although then i agreed with more real world placement and real world map features, yet still, it's a little too much imo
i ran the maptweaker analysis for the map and it seems there is 30 horses, 41 iron, 29 saltpeter, 47 oil... and this trend of lots of resources goes on. seems like too many resources for so little civs.

I agree, i mentioned this earlier. Theres enough resources for 24 players or as you have shown, more.
And the space... Why fight? Enough room for everyone, and their grandmas. Lets vote for whether to play on the huge world map or another map.
Lets just make clear how many want to play on the el menceys huge world map and those who dont. If people want to play on another map, even a smaller world map for instance vote other map.
Maybe we can just reduce some resources here and there. Also I think my idea of playing all european civs was pretty darn good. put 2-3 AI civs in america, africa and asia and then we expand
I vote for another map.Diplogamer formerly known as LzPrst

you're right lzprst, that idea of playing the euros sounds cool. the thing is though I think this game is for the giga 362 map. if it still counts, then my vote is to get the clean el mencey map and randomize resources, without tweaking map features. real start locations is fine though, however someone would have to correctly place the C3C civs

I agree, lets randomize resources a little, and reduce the number. The fun part about it is that since europe is so small it probably wont have many resources and we'll all have to go look for them other places. MPP will flourish, if one player gets iron and the rest dont they'll have to ally up to make sure the other doesnt get too powerful.
I'm playing around with the editor... we could make some special rules, ie in order for incense to come on the map ceremonial burial would be a prerequisite. Nothing big, just a little to spice things up
not happy about sugar and tobacco. I hit random and it popped up everywhere... Is there no way to limit such resources to just one continent without placing them one by one? And oasises too, the sahara was covered in them.
maybe we could get some reasonable unbribable 3rd party to distribute the resources for us...
Also, about starting locations, sumer would have to be right on top of babylon and hittites not far off. portugal and spain are also uncomfortably tight. And dont get me started on the ottomanians and byzantines. they have practically the same location! though el mencey put the ottomanians a tad too far north, they originated in asian turkey, not bulgaria. And with the dutch and the celts europe it is one tight fit. If we play the europe scenario we would have to choose what civs are where...Last edited by LzPrst; March 7, 2004, 19:05.Diplogamer formerly known as LzPrst

I think its just kind of odd that the two latecomers are the only ones objecting too much... anyways, I honestly don't care... It was just what I had laying around.... I will warn you now though, that this thread was built on the basis of a real world map with real world resourses..... randomization would force me to drop out....The main reason I don't like randomizaton is as LzPrst said, that some things turn up where they shouldn't be... up to others though..

i only play for fun , dont ccare about winning, so real world with reall resources is fine by me.
only reason to want randomised is to try to prevent people knowing where the resources are, but tha tnot a big concern for meGM of MAFIA #40 ,#41, #43, #45,#47,#49-#51,#53-#58,#61,#68,#70, #71

latecomer? i wasn't that late in wanting to join now was i?
and hey, i had no objections with the maps, except those i've posted above about resources on how it should be balanced with the amount of players and also randomized. Real world placement can be really fun theres no doubt in that, it's just that the thing with manual placement of the resources is that most of the time personal bias tends to rear its head and hinders the creation of a well balanced map, unless great care is taken! for example, there's 8 oil in the alaskan region, vs 10 in the middle east
so i posted above that i won't play... now I'm wondering if changes are coming up? If so, I'll stick around

Waiting for: What Civ does LzPrst want? The save game I have right now is him Japanese.... or does he want the Celts?
i work for BP ...
As we own most of the oil now in russia i can say we very happy with the large stocks there. as it now is found, any world maps in civ3 should show the oil there.GM of MAFIA #40 ,#41, #43, #45,#47,#49-#51,#53-#58,#61,#68,#70, #71

cant you go to a friends house or an internet cafe? just to mail the save i mean...
As for alternatives, none of my friends who live in this town have internet, and internet cafes don't allow people to bring in floppies for fear of viruses. They're idiots, because the damn network is already infested with every virus that ever crawled the internet anyway. And even if I could bring a floppy, over the week-end it's almost impossible to get into one of these places, because of all the kids playing Counterstrike.
And I'm dead serious about the cable guy. I've been telling him I want cable internet for the past 6 months. Not even a bribe offering helped. The monkeys are listening.
