    is this game still going?

playing on a earth map sounds interesting, what about a smaller sized one instead of 360x.. or a random map that works too

Bleh - Now I can't choose Persia - someone else has chosen that too!

I'm fond of China if it comes to me reselecting.

Ahhhhh! OK then, it will take an extra day to do.... No, we hadn't officially started, so you two can both join... that brings it down to on computer.... You two, I'd just like to warn you, that this is a world map, 362*362, an altered El Meceny's map.... I'll was thinking of posting here for everybody to take a look, since it would be unfair for just me to have it, and you could get the basic same map somewhere on the net....

I downloaded the latest version (I think it's 1.1, but it probably is 1.0) - the link is earlier in the thread.

No, I don't think that is El Meceny's previouls posted here... sorry didn't start yet, but I forgot my list of timezones... I will publish the map with the turn listing, and save game... Main changes are a little bit of resource management, and a little bit of pride Being from Alaska, I know more about what is where then the map maker, so I made a few terrain changes too... just for pride... and some balancing of resources..

are u playing the alaskans? if you do I consider that cheating

post it. resources are not randomized!? dont like that at all. if I know where everything is at... then theres no challenge finding stuff.

also, i disagree with a few things on the map.
                                1. Geographical:There should be FAR more forest in northern US. I think thats it...
                                2. Resources: Certain resources should be limited to certain regions.
Silk forests should be limited to east asia.
                                Canada should have more furs.
There MUST be iron in Japan. If there is no iron there what were samurai swords made of? plastic?
Spices should be limited to asia and east africa (where did the europeans go for spices..? )
The map looks more contemporary than 4000BC.
also, grapes were brought to california and south america, they didnt exist there prior to european colonization, though removing them would be pointless. hmmm, I just got an idea for civ4...

The point is: there are too many resources on the map for 8 players. size and availability is more like 24 players.

The game would be far more interesting if we all had to play european civs. race to colonize and expand, direct neighbours too strong to challenge directly resulting in a balance of power.

If not, I'd rather play the Celts! Glory to Cunobelin, Glory to Boadecica and Vercingetorix, Glory to William Wallace!
