What's so common about the last two milenia?
Without this religious connotation year 0 wouldn't be year 0; it is absurd to change the name only to avoid saying something ("Before Christ"), that is just perfectly true (well, unless they miscounted the year somehow) and universally accepted. You can count the years in "Before Confucius" or whatever else only nobody will know what the hell you are talking about
Besides no one really cares what this BC means; it is a standard de facto. Why change it? This sounds like "esperanto" to me (making a language for the sake of making a language) : change a name for the sake of changing it. There's no logic in that.
