You do realize that most of the infrastructure running the Internet is actually stationary?

First, you have to pay to get connected.

I think all you need to do is remind Beta to do this. He has been busy lately, barely keeping up with PBEMs (I am sure you know how that works, eh?)

Remind me who set up this game again? Who made the rules?

Understood. Just know it means instant war with everybody, as it would in my case.

    Save sent to Beta.

----------------- (now the fun part )

The USSR is very displeased with the harsh reactions of the NATO to the recent self-defense action taken by China in regard to incidents on the Indian border. We will monitor closely the progress of the happenings in the region.

In response to the NATO declaring DEFCON1, all ICBM missile crews of the Warsaw Pact have also been put on full alert. We do, however, hope no action will have to be taken.

We are pleased to inform the world community that despite the dramatic events in India, our scientists and technicians have completed a long-expected project. We call it the Internet. It will allow instant communication of all our scientists and army, which will, without doubt, provide peace and prosperity to the world through the numerous technological advances it will grant us.

EDIT: Got the save. I will play it in the morning (going to sleep now).

Let me remind you all of a house rule (stated in the first post of the setup thread). If the NATO or the USSR decides to nuke any country for any reason, all other countries are obligued to declare war on the nuking superpower. This is due to the unbalancing power of nukes in Civ3 (no possibility of simultaneous nuclear strike and other military action, so the first one gets a huge advantage).

You do not have to actually fight, though, just to stay at war (which prevents ROPs and trading of any kind).

The few nukes India and China have are not subject to this rule.

    Guys,

I wish to withdrawl from this game. The main reason is that I will be in China during the month of August, and I'm not sure of my internet options while I'm there.

Modo, I'm sorry that I'm doing this to you in two of the games you set up. I think both are great concepts, but I have to admit the pace for both games has been tough for me. I don't think these games will finish before cIV comes out.

Anyway, I hope no one is mad, I'll play my turns while a replacement is sought -- hopefully before I leave.

My secret agents sources tell me the NATO is still gathering information about the recent China-India conflict. The lazy capitalistic spies news agencies obviously lack the skill of the Russian spies ones.
