Lord Paddy,
It appears you were right about the Carthaginians; they are a nasty lot and not above stabbing friends in the back. Although I do not expect you to go to war with them, I thought you might like the occassional dispatch describing events in the Mediterranean.
We had our first encounter with the Carthaginians just a short time ago. One of our naval patrols was attacked just off the North African coast in neutral waters. I lost many brave sailors but succeeded in repelling their attack and sink their ship. We have more ships on the way to deal with the Carthaginian navy.
We have little information about the Carthaginians but we have heard rumours of their tremendous naval force. It's very likely they will attack by sea as well as crossing Egyptian territory. Please let me know if you notice any major Carthaginian activity.
