Babylon - our history
Part I, Chapter I
(Anonymous)
We were always very educated and peaceful people (not that any of us knew those words at that time long ago ). More of the nice and slow kind, that prefers staying in one place, if only possible. Perhaps it was always in our minds. Or perhaps it was the fertile, yet cold lands of our ancestors, that made us so. We lived here for a long time, in our valley near the coast. Behind hills that give protection from harsh winds coming from the south, a village and then a town has grown, providing a good warm place during cold winter months. It was called Babylon. Our home.
It is now believed that the settled tribe chose a Council of Elders with a single person to do the Councils bidding. Though called a "despot", this person was more a leader to the people, very close to those he directed.
After the horrific Long Cold Night, when many died of hunger after a terribly long winter, the Council decided that it was time to provide us with better means of storing food. Wise men started making plans...

Our first work parties ventured forth to begin developing the bountiful grasslands near our new Capital city. The future looks good now for our people with an abundance of cattle close to our city which are now being herded and corralled to be farmed to feed and clothe our people.
Many infants were born in these early days of our civilization and our Seers speak of a time when we will have to expand our homes to accomaodate the increase of our number.
Our wise men pondered long and hard to choose a path to study and our council of elders assembled to discuss our nations production. It was agreed that we must train scouting teams to explore our surroundings and claim more land for our growing nation.
So far the omens seem good for our people and all rejoice in the early achievements of our nation. We look now to the future and to what it has to offer.A proud member of the "Apolyton Story Writers Guild".There are many great stories at the Civ 3 stories forum, do yourself a favour and visit the forum. The Ottoman Empire has deemed that a well balanced diet of work and lots of it will increase the pallette's desire to taste fish and plenty of it as well to grow strong!
We have also seen the need to grow Eggplant and Zuchinni to go with our Fishheads and Rice Medley.
This shall ensure not only a healthy lifestyle..but many years of it as well!
Now time to eat after a long day of preparing our Gardens for our Kingdoms Growth
Now enjoy the food as our Pigeon carries the message onward to BetaHi, I'm RAH and I'm a Benaholic.-rah

with all things of old antiquity, details of what exactly happened eludes even the wisest of druids.
It very well known though, that the centuries of wandering done by their fathers, and the fathers of their fathers was still deeply instilled in every man, that it was almost by instinct that the Celts traveled the nearby lands, looking to the horizon for someplace new.
Women on the other hand, had to constantly remind the men that it would be better if they spent their time tilling the soil, than dreaming of a new home.
All things worked out for the best of course. You see, the constant traveling created dirt paths that would eventually turn into roads, which the men readily used to return home in full haste.

The settlement was called Hattusas in honor of Hatti, the garden where Antu created the world and where his magic still lingered. This magic manifested itself in each season’s thick harvest; grains for halki (a kind bread) and wianna (or beer), nuts to sustain them through the brief winter, even wild grasses to cushion their beds and thatch their shelters. Hatti was birthplace of all things and so animals were plentiful as well. The great herd passed twice each year to and from the spawning grounds, but a multitude of smaller creatures inhabited the grasslands all year round. The skins were fashioned into clothing; the bones into ornaments and the rest would be served with halki and wianna.Do you believe in Evil? The Nefarious Mr. Butts

After the first major downpour from the nearby jungle, the people decided that stronger huts were needed to help keep them dry in this new home the had chosen. After many failed ideas of how to create a stronger living area, one of the tribesmen found that after digging through the fertile soil there was a nice layer of rock and clay. When mixed with mud this new substance hardened into a much more sturdy wall than had been known of before.
Imediately the local workforce was dispatched to start bringing in this productive substance from nearby land.Law of 5th Contingency - "If your 4th contingency has failed, there is no point in checking your 5th. Just accept the world is out to get you." -Earthworm

Babylon - our history
Part I, Chapter II

And so our peaceful town grew and men were sent forth to bring back stone, so we could make tools and build shelters.
As a people of little movement, we didn't know much of the land that surrounded us. Because of this, we decided to send our men to scout the famed riches nearby. But first, we would have to prepare weapons for them, so that they could defend against any danger they might face.Last edited by Modo44; November 28, 2004, 08:26.Seriously. Kung freaking fu.

As I scribe these writings I sit here beneath a mighty Oak, that is gently swaying in the wind. A work party sent to survey the forests for quality lumber to be used in our shipyards. We are a people connected to the Oceans, for years we have learnt to master the currents and tides and soon we shall send forth explorers unto the vastnesses of the oceans.
Our people are very happy with our new home here by the coast.A proud member of the "Apolyton Story Writers Guild".There are many great stories at the Civ 3 stories forum, do yourself a favour and visit the forum. Lose yourself in one of many epic tales and be inspired to write yourself, as I was.
