    • Ok, here goes nothing!

1836 (turn 383): Mobile Warfare is researched. Go to Flight (since we're now pretty much in command of the techs, i'm going after techs that help us the most - in this case I want an airport build on the Sumerian continent, so we can quickly resupply there.) Celts give us 248gpt plus dyes plus 818 gold (ATH) ... no techs, but only communism is interesting. That's their max- they have no more gold at this point (unless they shift down tech rate of course!) I'm tempted to work up a second AI to tech parity so they can trade for communism and I can get communism from them ... at this point only the Celts can give us anything for our first run techs, unfortunately. Maybe Sumeria, actually, but ... they're the target so no go there. Lux rate down 2 points to allow 1 more sci point (6 turns flight vs 8) and 1 more tax point (300 something more GP = 1 more tank bought nearly per turn). I'm buying 1-2 tanks per turn, for a few turns, to up our tank levels.
A lot of cities are changed over to tanks, on the principle that 1 tank = 1.5 infantry; so 3 turns tank = 2 turns infantry, I'm willing to do tank (as we have about 2 hundred infantry!) but 2 turns tank < 1 turn infantry. I work on a few cities to work out more shields to produce a tank faster ...

1838: Celts develop Flight (?) ... ah well that's some money i won't get out of them. 5 turns for us. Or I can develop amphibious warfare ... but nah, not worth it. Get flight, go to next era, as far as i'm concerned, not worry about the rest of this. (Amphib probably wouldn't get us flight anywho.) AI sinks a transport (empty) with a Privateer ... weird. Get near attacking Paris. Agade looked at, it has Iron Works... 92 shields But it will be ours soon, once we have enough tanks to make me feel comfortable (only 4 infantry and 1 cavalry in it).

1840: Paris falls, no losses sustained. Pretty easy, actually. Artillery barrage et al. Not much else happens; I find the privateer but can't kill it this turn. I think it's sumerian, possibly iroquois. Sumer sends some ships to the border next to our island we took from the celts ...

1842: Not much happened. Lots of tanks were produced, some RRs built in Korea/France. Sumeria was confirmed to be the producer of the Privateer.

1844: More not much. Stuck close to the dratted privateer, killed a french cavalry on the celt-island of ours.

1846: Significant progress has been made to the assault on Sumeria. Our current deals with them prevent assaults being made this turn; however I would be surprised if they don't attack us, they're very bad mannered.

1848: What was I saying again ? Sumeria sends a fleet to Celtic Island, and refuses to leave, declaring war on us. Sadly I had already moved some ships before I remembered to ask them to leave, so they may get a few shots in at some transports - I covered them up as well as I could. I also unloaded as many as I could ... (Pic attached at the end, of the SECOND invasion fleet, which was a bit short as there was more artillery and tanks coming.)

between: Sumerians attack several times at Nagsu. We survive, barely; I should have left more there. (A quick scan 2 turns before revealed little in attack power, but apparently I didn't check the right cities ...) Anywho, a good decision to buy an airport there in 1 turn (640 gp!! ick!!) helped a lot in keeping us safe next turn.

1850: Agade taken after artillery barrage takes the entire group of 4 infantry to 1 hp each. Unfortunately, 50+ guerilla/infantry, plus another 30+ prior era units, sit between the huge stack sitting outside Agade and Nagsu. In order to have a good chance of keeping both the nearly 20 artillery, and keep the city (as likely as possible), after airlifting tanks and infantry into the city, another 12 infantry were put in Nagsu, bringing the infantry total up to 20, alongside several tanks (some of are at 1hp after killing off the infantry that were on grassland) and some artillery to hopefully provide some defensive support. Several left over artillery from Agade failed to do any damage (?) ... apparently hills protect infantry from artillery? Anywho, Agade was left nearly undefended; assuming they shot their load last time, so to speak, it will either be held, or we'll retake it later, after the artillery are safe and Nagsu held. I mostly took it just because I could without significant loss of troops...

The other city, Der, is 2 turns away from assault. I decided to go ahead with the assault, as more than likely we'll either keep or lose Nagsu this turn - if we (hopefully) keep it, a large airlift (larger by about 50% than last time, and heavier on infantry) will help out immensely, and they won't have any more troops (at least not w/in 1 turn like last time!). I'm assuming they committed their entire force.

Between turns: Wow! They moved almost *every single unit* excepting a couple that pillaged and a few i can't explain, and headed towards agade. Hmm... Anywho, this makes my decision tree easier. I think Agade can be held, probably. Zulu are at war with us, and Hittites signed a trade embargo with the French against us (which will shortly be irrelevant, I also took the second-to-last french city last turn, and the last one goes this turn.)

1852: Finish off France; airlift a ton of tanks and infantry to Nagsu; restock the infantry bank in Agade. We'll see if they actually ATTACK this turn or just keep playing (and let my artillery do a ton of damage to their infantry types another turn)... build some more airports ... get another 200gpt from various civs (including 90 from Korea!) for worthless obsolete technology. Also give Rome everything I can to help them defend against Sumeria, give them someone to try to attack. (Bring up to Infantry; give a few hundred gold, what i can afford easily, to - perhaps - upgrade some of their ... whatever they're called, spearmen maybe? ... give them every resource (iron, saltpetre, rubber, coal) ... ) Perhaps the Romans can fight for a little longer? Maybe??

between: About half of the Sumerian forces attack; only 3 infantry on our side die, and they leave most of the rest alone (??) ... our artillery will have fun target practice next turn. England allies with Rome against Zululand ... ?? Who knows... Zulu bombard home island. Eww, scary. Blah blah blah.

1854: Dar taken, and renamed Snoopy's Den. (Agade = Blanket, and Nagsu = Red Baron Field in memory of the brave pilots who broke the Sumerian embargo during the great Nagsu Airlift of 1850...) Forces move in on the next Sumerian cities... At the end I realize only sumerian rubber is one square away; i kill the RR but run out of 2 move peeps, so I have to wait for the successor to finish unroading it.

Have fun killing off Sumeria! It isn't too hard ... they should shoot the rest of their guns at you this turn, or else run away, but they have little in the sense of offensive forces.

Wasn't exactly voluntary ... unless I'm supposed to NOT ask the Sumerians to leave when they send in like 12 ships ... I mean, how was I supposed to know they were going to Rome? All they had to say was "Yessir, leaving now" and go to Rome ... never understand that AI.

I have to admit I was a little scared, for a while, when I saw the multitudes pouring in towards Nagsu... and the cavalry rush that nearly took the city (down to 1 infantry with 2 hp!) ... light cavalry fortunately, although the one army did cause me a bit of pain ...

Anywho, GT have fun. I set you up with a pretty good invasion force, just remember to use the artillery and finish razing the roads on the rubber with that cavalry if it survives. You have almost 20 artillery in Blanket, that should be enough to take a city or three. You also have an airport in Red Baron Field, that will be useful for transporting in new tanks ...

                      • Oh- and I forgot to mention, there's a little force on our island north of rome that you can either send in to take the city Sumeria took from Rome, or send in to Sumeria itself - whichever floats your boat. I don't think the Sumerians have much in Rome, though, maybe 8 surviving units, and that's only if Rome screws around and doesn't do any damage ...

                        • Of course they were going for Rome. That was the plan, man. After that, it would be easier to force a damaging war between our two main rivals - the Celts, and the Sumerians.

Oh well, we'll just kill them instead. What worries me is War Weariness.

                          • lol ... still all they had to do was say "Ok, we're sorry" when I asked them to get out of OUR territory. It wasn't clear which they were going for (they were travelling AROUND the roman continent at the time, could have landed on the other side if they just wanted rome ...)
