And, as nice as your plans surely are, you forgot the simplest solution: buying friggin Temples in the conquered cities! We were all to focused on research (me included ). Cash-rushing culture is usually enough to prevent that many flips.

Modo: Grandpa, roleplaying or not, specifically and explicitly said he felt I had played us wrong. That bothers me and I'm going to defend my play when he does so.

Grandpa: Roleplaying is fine, but not that way- if you want to tell me I played badly, say so and be prepared to back it up with facts, but not in jest. It's not funny.

Modo again: I just don't worry so much about flips. I don't worry about losing the cities, so long as I am beating their army and can cheaply take the city back. I didn't have the army strength to remove resistance quickly (so couldn't buy temples), and felt that a blitzkrieg was more effective in beating the greeks than a slow take-a-city-every-ten-turns approach that would have removed resistance and allowed temple buying.

And I wasn't concerned with science, either - note my low tech rates almost the whole 15 turns. I was concerned with only one thing: Military strength. We're at the point where we can win simply by crushing anyone near us in tech, excepting our very good friends the Iroquois who are going to cheapen the cost of techs we need later on for us ... and doing so now will also give us a "strong" to any other civ, meaning less necessary combat in the future.

Glad to see that - but you know emails to me take forever to get there, it hasn't arrived yet. And this just isn't appropriate humor, Grandpatroll. I'm not "immature", as you imply - not by the standards of my society anyhow - but I don't take what works out to personal insults well, just because you say "roleplaying here". If we were playing against each other, than I might take it alright - but we're not, we're on a team, and it shouldn't be that way, not in my opinion. I think you took it too far, and feel justified in defending myself from the quite extreme comments you made.

I try to be complimentary to others' play, regardless of how different they might be from mine - and I expect the same from others; good counsel on how I might have done better, but kind words overall, or at least not suggestions that I hurt the nation rather than helping it, which is what your comments amounted to. I don't think that's unreasonable to expect.

I hope you continue to play - I value the different perspective you bring, being a vet of a different but similar game - but please stay within the realm of politesse ...

Grandpa, I didn't receive your email, as I said in the last post. Your emails take hours or even days to get to me most of the time, remember? Some screwup on one of our ISPs?

And I only object to the direct insults of my playing ability. I simply feel you went too far. I'm not suggesting you not RP - I think it's grand and quite exciting sometimes. But please be more considerate of others' feelings... we're not all made out of as stern stuff as you.
