OK, My vote is normal map, but large is also ok.
Barbs random, though I prefer no barbs, but it's a small issue.
Level: Deity or Sid, no AI (tech advances should be slower - experience from other diplo games). Or monarch, but research like the level is deity.
Archi, 60% water, wet, warm, 5 billion years.

I'll think about civ later. Start locations culturally linked.
Scientific leaders on (for the sake of the stories).
Victory conditions: Diplomatic, Cultural, Domination, Conquest, Spaceship.

Votes tallied LL. Smelly will only play a large map and nobody else seems to care much about. 8 players is more important to me than a standard map.

I want large map too so we should go with that I think, as this is suposed to be a game im setting up

            thanks for updating though

So the players you have listed now are the 8 we go with, so no need to wait, has everybody chosen civs ?

            Ill go with Byzantines.

            Monarch is fine.

            Random Barbs is fine.

just map settings now as I would like the settings smelly has posted and I hinted at these yesterday, i think it would give us a map with plenty of land and naval choke points which would add much to diplomatic tension

so any one really opposed to this ??

On the Iron Civer rules i think those 1889 has posted are ok and essential really but as to the diplo faq do we say no to elimination ?? please post your thpughts on this so eitherr me or 1889 can sort out the game and get it rolling

we will use standard victory conditions as that seems to be th e most popular choice, so just a few people to decide their civs and iron out map settings and were away

I am good with the Archi map, doesn't really matter to me i guess.

                  Onward we go.

And I am fine with elimination being acceptable, as long as there is a story behind it. (Although I will probably be the first to go, and then complain about it incesently.)

I've played a few games on an archipelago with 60% water and it makes very cool maps.

I just feel like playing the Zulu's even though they don't have much relevance to this map.

I guess we just need word from LL then. I'm looking forward to the start.

The key thing is to slow down research. This is paramount for a successful diplo game. If the research is fast, with intensive tech trading, we'll be in modern age very quickly. And the only viable victory will be the spaceship. I'd like to avoid that. Spaceship is by far the easiest way to win on any difficulty.

I don't know about the civ. Depends on the level. If monarch, then give me religious and militaristic civ.

for the record you are very slow for a setup of a game..

so if that the case the thread you start wont be for several months

@1889 I got your PM thanks for updating this Ive managed to sort out the editor and Ive started a few random maps in hotseat this afternoon and Im getting pretty good consistent maps with plenty of naval and land choke points

Ive meddled with the optimal city number lowering it for large map, and civ spacing increased to spread us out as much as possible, which means you need to build those curraghs!!!

I put the tech rate up to 400 as it is for huge maps and set the minimum tech rate to 6 turns leaving the max at 50 turns. This is a shot in the dark and we will have to see if it really does slow tech down.

Ive also increased the occurance of iron and made it zero % dissapearence and slightly increased the appearance of horses. I feel these two resources are must haves so Im hoping the random map will give everyone access to reliable sources of these. Ive not meddled with other resources.

I can make changes to this if anyone wishes me too but hurry up and say so I want to start the game

can the following players send me an email so I can put their addys into my address book !!
