I'm not sure I've got time to commit to a regular diplogame, but consider this a floater to see first of all if there is anyone out there who actually plays Civ3-MP, but also if anyone is interested in ever doing Diplogames in it.

Civ3 - Diplogame?

Online-MP in Civ3 is almost dead. I wish you luck, but somehow have my doubts that you will get enough interest together. Civ3 PBEMs however are thriving and dozens of games of different flavor are running. I'm sure, many of them would qualify as Diplo games by your definition. If PBEM is your beef, you might have more luck there.

Hmm, I dunno how well a PBEM Diplo would work. Personal interaction between the players is key. Though maybe you could get more of that if it slowed down in a PBEM. I dunno.Captain of Team Apolyton - ISDG 2012

You do have a lot of personal interaction in PBEMs. Trade deals and embargoes, exchange of technologies and research argeements, border agreements, alliances and peace negotiations all require good diplomatic skills and a lot of communication. I suppose even more in a slowed down PBEM than online. If you set the game in a good context and make roleplaying a rule (many PBEMs do this), I suppose you could call this a diplo game too.

Actually, Civ3 MP is alive and well. I see more people playing than ever before.
As far as non-PBEM diplogames, I'm not really sure what you mean by this. I've only ever been exposed to PBEM diplogames. Perhaps you could explain a little further."Got the rock from Detroit, soul from Motown"

And here I thought there were over a thousand of us signed up on the ladder just this morning!?

Whew, okay, we're all still there. Online-MP is very much alive and well, we just have our own boards and don't dwell much at Apolyton or CFC anymore, due largely to the derision we once received there.

Cool, I definitely think there is some proto-diplogaming over at Civ3-PBEM, I am gonna post the Diplo-FAQ over there. Hopefully it'll spark some interest.Captain of Team Apolyton - ISDG 2012

Well I posted the diplofaq here: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...hreadid=118046
But it was promptly ignored and dropped off the main page by the end of the day. There doesn't seem to be much conversation in the PBEM forum, just people playing their games.Captain of Team Apolyton - ISDG 2012

Actually a diplogame sounds like something the stories forum might run with, I read your diplofaq and was kind of hoping I'd find a civ3 diplogameFirst Master, Banan-Abbot of the Nana-stary, and Arch-Nan of the Order of the Sacred Banana.
Marathon, the reason my friends and I have been playing the same hotseat game since 2006...

Well if you know folks in the story forum, see if you can spark some interest in it. I think its a great genre and style of playing, with a lot of great history. Its just that its only been played in Civ2-MP so far, and I don't want diplogaming to get buried along with Civ2-MP.Captain of Team Apolyton - ISDG 2012

yes diplo is perfect style for civ3.
As has been pointed out al ot of the online Mpers have left here and moved to their own boards.
The PBEM forum is mainly made of "Turn Sent" posts not all know how to tell a story.
this is the forum we need to stay in to get a diplo game going, it is jsut going to take some real work to get it going,
i of course will play.
so right now we have two definates and one interested,
we now need someone who can mod the bix file to get us a map of the size we want and number of civs.
some more discusiion on accepted rules etc will obviosuly follow.GM of MAFIA #40 ,#41, #43, #45,#47,#49-#51,#53-#58,#61,#68,#70, #71
