thats what I really enjoy about MP versus PBEM is the multitude of turn play and a decision made is a decision done

What I dont enjoy is sitting and playing for 5 hours and getting maybe 20 turns in 5 hours (with a bunch of people) versus 2-3 people and having a turn every couple minutes

    • Well I spent a lot of time on that damn map, and I do want to keep this genre going, and its not going to make it anywhere stuck in Civ2 forever.

So.... I am willing to make this a PBEM game.

      Who is with me?

Thanks for the heads up, and for the recommendation in the other forum. I posted, but the conversation seems to have drifted away. Hopefully people are still itnerested in the idea.

Watch out. Those concrete guys like to act conservative and reserved in front of customers, but I'm sure the hotel staff will have a few stories to tell.

                  I'm in.

Can some one update what has been agreed to so far, don't make me read through 7 pages.

I can speak for the coastal area of southeastern North Carolina

We have seen a 35% increase in raw material cost of cement, aggregates up nearly 18% as well as fuel and insurance costs, not to mention regulatory costs skyrocketing to be in compliance

This result in a huge increase in a cubic yard of concrete...

thats not even factoring in the fact we are on allocation of a 35% reduction in availability

so this is why concrete went from an average C.O.D. price of $75.00 per cubic yard to over $115.00 per cubic yard..prorated above 8 cubic yards below that you have to figure in a delivery charge for the same $150,000.00 rig going to a jobsite less than a full payload being hauled...

                        ok

                        short of it

Concrete is like any steel or wood based building product

extremely expensive and hard to predict

                            MOD:
I modified the Babylonians to be the Israelis. The UU is the same (bowman), I adjusted the city names, leader names, and I made their traits religious and agricultural which seem more fitting for Israel.

I added one unit, a hot air balloon, cause it seemed cool and I wanted to play around with adding units. Its 0-0-1, with 2 space visability and treats all terrain as roads. It comes available at invention and costs 30 sheilds. Basically its purpose is to provide some reconasince for invading armies with its extra visability.

Since the Atlantic ocean is kinda small on this map, I modified the galley and curaugh so they are unable to enter ocean squares. No early trips to America. This I think is actually a cool improvement over Civ2, cause we can push back the age of discovery until caravels. This is more realistic too.

                            MAP:
I found a standard sized earth map and I tweaked it to be a little less horrible. Its not perfect (i'm rather perfectionist with maps) but its good enough. There are 5 of each resource and luxury, so there are no surplus, just enough for each of us.

I've placed the resources in fairly historical spots, but for somethings (like aluminum, salt pepper, etc) I just made stuff up because I don't know where in the world is known for their salt pepper.

Some regions have concentrations of some luxuries and/or resources. For example most of the silk is in China and most of the oil is in the Mideast. I think this will make the game more interesting as it forces us to trade (or conquer to get resources). Sometimes the last remaining strategic resource may be scattered in some random spot on the globe like South America or Australia, so that adds something to the age of colonialism.

To ensure a more balanced start I put an iron and horse relatively near everyone's start. Its not perfect though, so there are no guarantees you'll get one, but it should be within your sphere of influence.

Ok, the game is starting now, so I'm hoping to see some opening posts from people. (some introduction story before the game starts) And again, please confirm whether you can start this Saturday. Thanks.

                            FILE:
Ok, download this .rar file (like a .zip file, but better), and unzip it in your conquest scenario folder. (civ3/conquests/scenario). It should work just fine. If there are any problems, let me know.
This was going to be Monarch dificulty

I think all victory was allowed

                            it was set to be:

                            Israel
                            Zulu
                            China
                            Russia
                            France

but I'm sure that can be changed easy enough

The turn tracking story thread is already to go with cool pics even Dawn of the 3rd Age

Maybe it should be changed to 4th Age now though

Zulus are for me. Shaka the Great Elephant embraces the 4th Age.

                              Civ:
                              Raz - Israel

                              Tokah - France

Right? Is everyone else still in who was in before? Will Raz and Ljube attempt a PBEM? Is Tokah still interested?

I, because of my desire for knowledge plus I been working in it since 1985, I have been a yardman, unloaded train cars with cement, plant maintainence, drove a mixer for years, was a plant manager, actually for a year and a half batched, loaded and delivered concrete out of a one truckplant..that was kind hard work..then ran a plant with 5 trucks then promoted to my current position of area manager with 40 people working for me...

I have spoke at the local college, homebuilders associations, city, county ,and government inspectors workshops as i try to teach what i have learned..

I am an ACI Level I Field Tech, ACI Flatwork Certified, NCDOT Level ! & II batch and mix design certified for the State of North Carolina in additional was in first ever NRMCA Certified Concrete Sales Professional Course, a 76 hour college credit (C E U's).

I study and love to learn about concrete, so much behind the mixing procedure..

ok..enough about this..I could thread jack inadvertently by speaking on the most durable product!
