Anzacs are great units especially when they become Elites

The production lines continue to pump out fighter bombers.
The training camps continue to pump out Marines.
It is a discussion that when we have a base on the Jappa Mainland we will start to rebase the fleet air corp, and replace them with fighter bombers. These multi versitile units will provide a mighty finishing blow to the Jappaman.
Iwo Jima 5 May 1943
5th Fleet and 9th Army Air Corp are on the job.
Late the previous evening the 5th Fleet slipped the harbour and with the coming dawn will begin the Bombardment of Toyko City.
The from 4am the engines of 9th Army Air Corp have been winding up, as the bomber sqds, fighter bomber sqds and fighter escort sqds headed of for the many attack runs.
Tokyo would fall this coming day.
and so it begins
The Harbour has been destroyed
6 Destroyers and the Marine Transporter "The Decider" rushed the beaches and the ruined harbour. The Marines paid a bloody price...
And Tokyo has fallen.
It must be noted the the Wonder "Smiths Trading Company" has been captured in tack. At this time we are quite unsure whether we will be able get this wonder operational. Yet we are quite delighted enough that Jappa will no longer have the benefit of this wonder.
Next in came the transporter "Jolly Roger" with its load of Flak units. Poor old Jappa, imagine his surprise when he counter attacks with his air corp and there are 4 fresh Flak units stading guard in the city.
And from Manila, the first Fighter Bomber sqd flew into Toyko airport. We are here and we are here to stay.
and the units poored in for the rest of the month.
the garrison is well stocked, gin, whiskeys, all sorts of beers, and some great brandy's, thansk to 5th fleet stores, those Navy boys know how to make war. so Jappa will have a few issues if they want to take Tokyo back.... my lads are quite posessive of their drink
With the fleet air corp sitting off shore running combat air patrols, this area is quite a busy place.
We also have seven subs scattered along the coast, quite a picket line protecting the 5th Fleet.
Jappa has moved their seat of parliament to Sapparo on their far northern home isle.

i'm sure you can hold it... the northern city will have to pass hills (losing movement) and the other 2 cities can be cut off easily by getting rid of the roads
actually guys, i'm a little disappointed with this sid level. all the benefits (lots of cheap units) obviously hasn't helped japan at all. i wonder what the cities were building... probably things like universities when they'd need MP battallions and bombers

changing alliances probably wouldn't work. i can't imagine any fair redistribution. from pure power point of view maybe netherlands could join japan, but most cities start undefended and with the most powerful commonwealth right next door.
we could otherwise maybe let the AI play netherlands or the US. or just find a 5th player to join in.
another possibility would be to cheapen japanese units or give them more to start with (maybe artillery and bombers).
or, we could try something different. maybe a 4/6 civ locked alliance game. a map (which everybody knows from the beginning), 2 teams with 2 or 3 players each and an medieval or industrial start...

The same could be said for anyone from America Britain and lots of other places regarding the Japs of WW2 !!
Especially as its still within living memory of many families older relatives.
Ive played in a 5 human game of this scenario and I can tell you Japan needs no help, it is by far the most powerful player in this game. In the hands of a competant player we would really have our work cut out for us, and the game I spoke of Japan won by VP's within 13 turns.
If you think back a ways in this scenario I bombed Japs only oil resource early on, and he never made any real attempts to reconnect it or gain another, since then we have been fighting against a Japan with no oil and no wayb to replace lost oil requiring units.
Denying Jap its oil is the key to this game, if you can achieve that then its only a time thing, but thats going to be much harder with a determined and competant human player.
I do think however that if we do try this with 5 plasyers we need to get a grip over personal feelings about the past, it is only another game of civ after all.
