this is all great news from the allies! I was wondering when I was going to read about the prince of wales naval engagements. I'm glad its still afloat. and it's a real thrill to read about the battle of midway. Plus, amphibious assault next turn on top of that!

over in china there's still some minor skirmishes near Nanking. Chinese guerrilas managed to sabotage Nanking's iron supply. One less for the bad guys. Kaifeng fighting was at a standstill. Bombers managed to cut off the supply route from manchuria, although artillery did not manage to hurt a single enemy.

in the south, the railway from Hanoi to Canton has been severed. Japan's Indochina sole supply route now apparently lies with Saigon's harbor.

      Marvellous turnaround Gentlemen

This month we have again seen lots of action around the Singapore theatre, our losses were lighter than last month and a further troop of vet Anzacs has been airlifted in to aid in holding this vital area. At the end of the month Jap sent in yet another wave against Bhuket, but due to our succesful bombing campaign to destroy the roads and rails there force has stalled outside the city. They have an Army unit comprising of at least one light tank and 1 Nipponese Infantry stranded in the open fields well within the range of our guns. Needless to say we hope to destroy this force next month.

our force sent to hill 48 last month opened fire with its emplaced Artillery batteries causing some damage to Jap units in Bangkok, Jap did try to counter but our boys held the line with one of our green Anzac units taking out a Jap Combat engineer force. It was a close run fight and those lads will need urgent medical attention, we plan to evacuate their whole unit next month.

BB The Prince of Wales must have suffered heavy bombing between months as she was very heavily damaged, her Captain managed, though to bring her safely into Singapore for repairs. Our Naval assets who were close enough bombarded the Jap airbase at Saigon, this month and beat a hasty retreat away from reprisals. Jap seems to have lots of airborne forces in this region!!

In other news our Sub SS Tireless picked up a sonar trace on a Jap Sub designation SS I-16, this enemy vessel was lurking in the sea lanes between Guam and Palau, no doubt seeking out easy pickings from our trade convoys. They were no match for our boys, and they now rest on the bottom of th South China Sea. SS Tireless was caught with a glancing blow from an enemy torpedo and had to surface, she is now under full steam to Raboul for repairs.

In other news two more Airports on mainland Australia were completed this turn with cash payment inducements to the contractors, meaning we will have greater ability to reinforce our hot spots in the months ahead. The frantic job of linking all of the continents cities with a continuous raillink continues at a pace, with three new work gangs assigned this month and 3 more in training.

communiqué from the dutch temporary governement, april 1942:

our country is slowly recovering from the revolution. elections are sceduled for june so preparations of what are the most important issues, will begin next month.

on the front, there is finally news! 4 regiments of dutch infantry, which had been rush-built just before the revolution have landed on the island east of palau. we have no idea how many oponents we are facing, but we see that the city is heavily defended by at least 2 units with defense strength 8 on the WCC-scale (winston churchill combat scale). it may be a fierce battle but with a little bit of luck, the city which the japanese stole from the americans might go back in the hands of the allies.

meanwhile a bit further away (east of palau), a dutch submarine following a japanese one discovered a shocking fleet of 1 carrier and 2 devastators (WCC: 12/10).

near sumatra, another ship of the proud dutch navy saw a tank army in siege near a commonwealth city! the navy will try to weaken the army by bombarding it from the water, but unfortunatly the cannons were overheated from trying to bombard luxuries the japanese treasure so much! let's see how good japanese soldiers fight, when all they hear is the whining of their wives because they can't dye their kimonos... the dutch call this psychological warfare... "if you can't beat 'em, make them unhappy"

          Greeting Allies,

Not much is going on on our front with the japanese carriers sunk. Research is moving at a good pace, with many fighter and bomber squadrons newly cristened and on their way to midway to meetup with our carriers.

I hope to begin island hoping very soon and meet up with our allies forces.

          Goodluck and god speed friends

            April 1942

The japanese have now started to infiltrate China. They are apparently aiming for the Kunming and Nanning area. Enemy fighter presence in the area has increased. Artillery and infantry have been so far unsuccesfull at stopping the Nipponese infantry advance. Defenders are holding still for now.

On the eastern front, Nanking's pillaging force is still under heavy retaliatory fire. While in Kaifeng, the situation is still at a standstill. Recent bombings managed to set fire to the Kaifeng university, level the military barracks and blew up some of their fighter hangars.

Allies, we have played and sent on our report to the Netherlands.

We succesfully destroyed the Jap armour army outside our city this turn, we also killed off an infantry unit so we have held celebrations here.

The roads to Bangkok are now completely cut meaning Japwill be slowed down in his attempts to capture Singapore, this should give us time to fly in plenty of defensive units and allow us toim plan a counter attack.

As soon as we are ready we will push deep into their territory aiming for Saigon and ridding them from this entire region. Longterm we will hopefully push into China proper helping our Allies there to rid themselves of the yellow peril.

Australia is developing fast with new worker crews being trained up every month, we hope to turn this land into a pwerhouse of production

here is the newest communiqué of the temporary government over the netherland empire:

in the beginning of may, the friendly canadian ruling the united states offered us amphibious warfare, but unfortunatly not for free. all we can offer is our world map ... but we hope sincerely that the finest quality espionage maps the dutch posess are a good trade for some methods of how to launch an attack from sea!

bad news has arrived from the front: the dutch liberation force was completely overwhelmed by japanese paratroopers at davao. a counterattack was impossible as only a flak batallion and a few infantry soldiers survived! the latter have been sent to the hospitals on a dutch controlled island. spies show that at least 2 paratrooper units have been severely damaged, but they are hiding in the city to recover. while more infantry units were sent to try and take advantage of the weakened davao defenses meanwhile, reconnaissance ships saw fireworks over palau. the sick islanders are actually celebrating the japanese emperor! what arsekissers?!?

all over the pacific, our informants tell us about japanese advances. they have captured the city of aparri on the philippines and are now in control of a further source of coal. hongkong, the only commonwealth stronghold was burned to the ground!

from the political point of view it looks better now. elections are due next month and all cities have prepared their first projects. most cities will be producing military units while some need workers to clear away some rainforrests for getting some production source!

                  netherlands out...

                    Welcome Allies,

I and the congress assure you that the price for Amphibious Assault was an oversight. In addition we are a short 4 months away from advanced Flight. Our fist isand battle is also 3 months away, with additional reinforcements quickly staging in honolulu.

                    Good Luck friends

shall we go for atomic theory as a good buildup for the nuke?

airborn warfare? I think some paratroopers would really come in handy

state in china remains favorable. the fighting in the southern provinces resulted in enemy tank, combat engineers and infantry casualties

nanking is nearly completly isolated and trimmed down, and kaifeng is still being bombarded. unfortunately the japanese coal plant was destroyed

there's presently one new tank unit being rolled out of Sian each turn. these chinese light tanks are swift, cheap and will play a big hand in clearing out the japanese out of Manchuria.

if anyone can donate some money, China will be able to build more tanks. each rushed tank comes to approx 124 gold, so please donate in that increment

June 1942 sent to the Netherlands.

Not much action for the Commonwealth this month, though we managed to take out one nipponese infantry and our Anzacs survived an assault by enemy engineers.

We are applying more pressure to Bangkok, and we duly note the arrival of our Chinese allies on the scene.

China, we have sent all the gold we had left after our spending this turn, we will try to send more each turn we hope you can make good use of this cash.

Netherlands we hope to hear from you on the successful change of government this month, we w8ish your people well in this and good hunting.

America we wish you well in your naval encounters with Jap in the coming month, we hope to have more news for you soon and stay tuned for the upcoming battle for Bangkok

                            wonderful news, allies!

on the 1st of june the new governement was voted! immediately people were extatic and even the crime and corruption has dropped by half since we left monarchy!
our workers work faster than before and our scientists are researching -as our american friends requested- methods to attack from the sky. they're calling it airborne warfare!

also, without any further losses, the island of davao was retaken! the japenese who had nearly eliminated our first invasion force were still recovering from that and standed no chance at all against our infantry, despite their tactical and armorment advantages! in the 5 months japan occupied the capital of davao, a lot of japs took the free flats of the dead americans who lived there before the attack and those new citizens are now revolting. despite being a democratic governement, we've decided to starve them out until they comply. we have no time and energy to integrate them.
our conquest of the city brought us 600 valuable conquest points!

at sea our scouting submarine managed to sink a heavy cruiser without even getting spotted!

we have to decline the request of the chinese people for money, because we are running big losses and our islands require infrastructure and our soldiers need reinforcements!

we're pleased to see that our allies have held their positions so far!

we now face the problem of now knowing what our allies want. shall we keep taking out the small islands or shall we prepare a great fleet to eliminate the reds from the chinese mainland?

A good turn for the Commonwealth, we have moved several units foreward to attack Bangkok with next turn, sadly we watched as Jap bombers sank the BB repulse, and a rogue nippon inf cut our rubber supply near Rangoon. We hope to kill that unit next turn with a new Anzac unit rushed for the job.

The AI seems quite good at this one unit deep in enemy territory to cut resources strategy, I never noticed he was so close until i clicked end turn.

Jap has tried to push to Bhuket with infantry again but with the roads cut he cant attack the same turn which is buying me time to prepare an attack.

I dont expect to capture bangkok next turn but will attempt to lessen the garrison there.

Smelly I sent you a bit of cash again hope it helps
