        After turn 189 sent.

The Aussies never told us about the legends of the Aussie sea captains in the Nordic Sea. While having a relaxing evening at the local Wharfside Pub in Polyarny Inlet in the newly conquered Nordiclands we came upon a salty Aussie sea dog who was the captain of his own sailing vessel.

This Captain regaled to us the tale of one voyage into the icey and sometimes frozen Nordic Sea to the north of the large peninsula like Nordic lands. He recounted many wonderous sea tales whilst we sipped on our warm cider to chase away the chill of the Polyarny Inlet harbor winds that carried the icey chill of the Nordic Sea on their backs.

'Aye ye land lubbers, Beware the extreme northern passages. Dangerous 'tis even to be in those waters it is, I say. Nary we got outta thar with me and me mates skins still intact, aye a blarny cold and blasted place it is.', we were enraptured by the old weathered captains tales so much that the next line caught us off guard. 'Aye...AArrgh, and there be blasted englishmen in those waters too...'

        ENGLISHMEN!?!?!?!

The Texas Rangers have each located another small village in their explorations. Perhaps new knowledge awaits us in those villages like the last, we shall soon see.

The Armitage clan had a small discovery to celebrate as the scouts learned the Alphabet from the neighboring tribes people. Farming would have been better but perhaps next time.

Ausseis recall informing the Texans of our lost Navy many years...

The tales of which are still handed down from father t oson ,speaking of large sea creatures eating whole ships.

We know some one is out there, but we cant get to them , we need bigger ships...

Exploration continues, but still nowhere to expand to. The seas are too dangerous.

              After turn 190 sent.

A most fortuitous journey began after hearing of the old Aussie sea Captains tales. Gregory Nashirelenko a famed explorer and merchant paid a Russian naval Captain to carry him into the unknown icey depths of the Nordic Sea. Gregory Nashirelenko hoped that this dangerous attempt to cross the Nordic Sea would succeed and he would be the first Russian or Aussie citizen to set foot on the rumored English coast that awaited him somewhere out there in the gloomy mists.

Late one stormy evening the violent rocking of the waves tossing the boat about the Nordic Sea like an apple bobbing in a barrel awoke Gregory Nashirelenko. He scrabbled up from the depths of the galley and onto the deck just in time to see a large wave crash onto the deck leaving frosty sea foam on the deck of the tiny vessel. The sail above him was quickly being dismantled and brought down by desperate sailors who knew that the biting chill of the strong winds and sheets of rain would tear the mast from the tiny ship if they did not get the sails lowered and out of the storms wrath quickly.

SNAP, Crackle.... the sounds of splintering wood could be heard amidst and briefly above the screams of the sailors who were washed into the foamy and icey Nordic Sea from their pearched positions attempting to save the ships mast to no avail. Another crew would be lost to the briney deep of the Nordic sea as the galley without a mast was now slave to the whims of the waves beneath her. Tossing from one side to the other and up and down the ship bobbed up and down in the foaming angry seas. Gregory turned just in time to see a wall of white foam trimmed water bearing down on him. He thought he might be able to escape back into the depths of the galley from whence he came but the waves engulfed him and washed him overboard in a resounding thunderous clap of victory. Yet another victim claimed by the treacherous frosty Nordic Sea.

Gregory awoke, bleary eyed and immensely cold, stiff, and sore from the pummeling that the Nordic Sea had given him. Apparently the sea had sparred him. To what end was not readily apparent to him just yet as a crowd of gawking english sailors crowded around their new found booty of a Russian maerchant.

'Ahh, matey. Like to have drown you might had we not been along. Rawight Mates. OK then give the good man some room and a lime or two for that nasty scurvy parching his lips. Ahh.. thar you go matey. Now its off to the Queen with you as 'ole lizzy wants to have a word with ya.'

And so the Russian Merchant met the Queen of England Elizabeth.

Many other introductions followed as the cascade of news from across the seas was traded from one Civilization to the next as Gregory travelled the vastness of the new lands with its many glorious wonders to behold.

He stopped in London to buy some carrier pigeons and sent them home with small messages of his travels in these strange new lands as his moved from place to place. He paid his way from one kingdom to the next as a missionary teaching of the one true God and Monotheism trading his knowledge for the maps of the massive continent that spread before him. Always careful not to reveal his homelands true map location for fear of other not so peaceful cultures exploring and settleing the shores of his homeland.

              DyP

The Texas Rangers continue there wanderings revealing more of the surrounding terrain.

The Armitages are still waiting patiently for those crops to grow.

                  Never made it actually.

                  First turn went ok.

Guess I passed the % chance of sinking.

Next turn then I moved again after surviving the first move and ended up in a sea zone but since I do not have the Great Lighhouse I sank. Before ending the turn I saw an English city and hailed the Spearman defender.

The rest is shall we say history.

You should be able to make it across if you just survive the first part of the journey without sinking because your galleys are safe in sea tiles. Mine are not.

Little matter as the wily Gregory got us all the maps we need so future exlporations are more for the deep dark oceans and what other isles thay might possess.

Next turn trade out the cities agreed to in the Nordiclands earlier and world maps and I will return your offer with contact with the English, Mongols, Romans, Iroquois, and Persians.

The Persians and the EWnglish seem dominant.

I also noticed the Great light house city was in unrest. Might i suggest using the auto-governors to manage citizen moods automatically for you. This will prevent the unfortunate rioting as the individual cities governors will pull people from the fields if necessary to keep the people happy. This can help until you improve the happiness situation overall.

                  ALSO

Do not trade our maps to any of the AIs. As soon as you do they will try to settle the small pockets of available land on our coastlines. If they cannot see where those places are then they will not send settlers to those coastline holes alowing us time to 'plug' them in.

                  Playing my turn now.

ok , this is the part of the game that i usualy suck at....

watch the aussies slowly but surely fal lbehind now...

i cant seem to match in research no matter what i try with the sliders... if it down to micro managing the citys then that it explains it all, that too boring for me to do.... I hate ,micromanaging stuff...

oh well. we here for the ride now, i wil lrely on your research to continue..

Looking ahead to end game, you will launch Spaceship and i will watch and cheer...

Actually use the city governors and it makes the micro-managing the cities disappear almost entirely.

Go into each cities screen and click the Governor button. Now select manage citizen moods, emphasize food, emphasize production, emphasize commerce. With those settings you never have to look at the cities for micro-managing things again. Just select buildings to build and then let the governors handle the rest.

My civilization is a science civilization so I get bonuses for each city of a certain size.

Build libraries and universities and that is about all their is to the science game. My economics have been on 5.5.0 for the longest time because I have too many units to pay maintenance costs. Once I get banking then build those on top of the marketplaces and things will be good to switch to the Democracy.

Once in Democracy the extra money from the commerce bonus will make-up the difference. We just need to get to democracy and switch over.

The setting under your domestic advisor for Research, Taxes, and Luxuries. I have been at 50% research rate and 50% taxes for a long time now and am getting -6 gold per turn right now with a bank of 38 gold.

I have to do something drastic quick like add some workers into the cities as population or even the settlers I was going to use to 'plug' the holes in my coastline befoer the Romans, English, or Mongols cross the open seas and oceans.

Do not think they can get here just yet as they are just now entering the early Middle ages and we are approaching the later Middle Ages.

Nawh, I bet you just have too many units. Hit the F3 key and look at your maintenance costs for your units.

The top row lists how many units you are allowed for free without paying maintenance. Any over this and they start to cost you plenty. Remember workers and settlers cost gold just like units do.

The number of free units you get depends on the government choice. Right now we both are in Monarchy which is good cause we both get more free units than the other governments. Try growing all your cities to the above 7 pop as at that point they support more troops. Also if not using your workers add the into the cities that can support more people with food. Remember the added worker will add another pop point to the new city.

I have to get rid of some settlers this turn or I will go bankrupt as well.
