It's not based on anything rational, but I take particular glee in seeing the Persians suffer in every game that I play. I'll go out of my way to pick a fight with them if I'm powerful enough, wantonly razing their cities and brutally enslaving their workers whenever possible.
There is, of course, the obvious Persia/Iran link. But to maintain that ancient Persia had anything in common with modern Iran is somewhat of a reach. That's tantamount to maintaining that modern Norwegians are the same as Vikings, or that modern Italians are exactly like their ancient Roman antecedents.
