The idea, I'm sure, came from Apolyton or a similar site, but the endless streams of whiny addicts were unnecessary. There were quite a few people who said they were not buying the game and even 1 or 2 who left Apolyton because of things like this. They did not get 16 civs in the game. They mer++++destroyed the atmosphere of the forums. For a long while, the forums were nothing but complaints. I'm glad we're finally past that.
what about mp.... they STILL ***** about that

I've never played MP civ. I don't have any desire to anyways!! If I want MP, I'll play Counter-Strike[tm].
My average Civ game takes 2 weeks, I don't see how you could finish an MP game of Civ. Plus you have to wait for 4 or 5 other people to move their pieces, it just seems stupid.

And what about PBEM with 15 other people?

Wow! I was just going to start a thread on this. Does this mean that the interface will officially allow 16 civs at once ? I'd like to see an update to the diplomacy screenshot to see if it will accept 16 civs (or the civ selection screen). Will there be a disclaimer saying "choosing huge map and 16 civs is not officially supported" since it will likely be slow ?
I dunno. I have a 900mhz athlon and 256MB of ram but playing SMAC on a Huge map of planet is not a problem... until the end game. I usually wind up waiting at least 30-60 seconds for the AI to take its turn...
Very good news. In fact a message I did not hope anymore for. It seems they adapted some screens to allow for more images. More flexible, less fixed. Very good!
Btw this are the defaults. So one can assume that also on a standard world one could set the game to play with 16 civs. It just get crowded and asks for more initial conflict. Interesting option.
Did you ever stop to think how long it would take to complete a game playing on a huge map with 8+ civs? I think some folks will be in for a rude awakening when such a game could take 40+ hours to complete. AoE this is not (thank goodness).

Where did you find that video Boris?
At Civ Fanatics. You can download it. But it's 35 meg, so would take forever over modem. It took about 10 mins to download over my company's network. I also had to download the player.
How much RAM do you need in your computer to have all 16 Civs going at the same time? I now have 288 RAM in my 300 MHz PC, do you think that it is enough when having all the 16 Civs in one game?
