I like that. Some hills do make things look nice along with a forest or 2. But every square in my control MUST BE COVERED BY IMPROVEMENTS!!! The thing I absolutely love about Civ3 is the fact you can expand your boarders to grab every piece of land near any cities and for those hard to reach areas, I just expoit them with colonies. The world is just my canvas as I cover every square metre of land (and sea if Civ3 has ocean improvments, I hope )
