I tried the 1024*768 on my 15 inch monitor and it's definetly not very friendly.
The general requirements for Civ 3 are very modest so it's a pity they can't support 800*600 resolutions.
Oh well. I am probably not going to buy a monitor just for Civ3. If Civ3 doesn't look good on my monitor I will have to make do with EU2.

I would keep it at this resolution, except for the fact that none of my games take advantage of it, and there are VERY few web sites that require anything larger than 800 x 600 (i view apolyton in its entirety with room on the sides for instant messages and whatnot).
