Civ 3 clearly doesn't suck. Maybe it just doesn't appeal to you. All the reasons you listed as negatives, D=Me, I just don't see those as negatives.

That's funny, I'm sure there was one there yesterday. It must have deleted itself.

                You welcome!!

I would not say this game sucks, however I would not play the Vanilla at all either because I feel it is 'very flat'. That said the Conquest Game Editor is a blessing times ten. The times ten; is using it, mastering it and taking advantage of the mods other people make. I never played CIV II unmodded as well. I do not know how many players there are like unto me, however a well modded game is worth it's weight in gold! Pun intended.

                Happy Gaming!

I never play modded games. I'm strange that way.

So what mods for Civ3 are out there?

                        I you.

And spamming aside, the reason SMAC succeeds where Civ3 and Ctp fail boils down to two words: Balance and Symmetry. SMAC had it; the others didn't.

                        • Jac, I agree with you 100%. It also had incredible atmosphere, which is also something Civ3 wasn't quite able to achieve in. In SMAC, you actually had real, significant feelings about and towards each of the factions.

Binyo, d=me had what is called a double post, except instead of one he had 8 in a row. Ming later deleted all but one, which is why posts about it no longer make sense.

                          • SMAC had a great atmosphere... but the biggest problem about the game was a terrible AI, which was basically the same Civ 2 AI. The game was incredibly complex, and the AI didn't understand so many concepts...

This is the allure of well using the Conquests Game Editor...

I would also add, hard hitting strategy from the beginning amidst clever surprizes.

There was an 8x post, which I think Ming now has deleted hence your confusion.
