  • What should NOT be in the next XP?

If Firaxis were to bring out another expansion pack they would try to put things in that we, the customers, wanted. Well, things that they think we want.

I certainly would not want to pay A$50 for an XP with more civs, more units, more eyecandy and precious little else. I would not want Firaxis to waste their time and energy on things I don't want so that they could instead devote their energies to including things that will lead to me wasting lots of my time.

People are always asking for more units, more civs, more wonders, more buildings etc but is this worth the money given that you can either find out how to do this yourself with the editor or download them? I think not. I want new cpabilities, not more of the same. I do not want another building that adds 50% to trade revenue (ie a second marketplace which I could create in the editor myself).

    What are your thoughts?

There won't be another XP - they've done milked it to death. Sid has decided to create a new claim to fame so that he won't be known as the "civ guy". Unfortunately, this effort is bound to fail. Sid has his claim to fame and anything else he does is bound to come up lacking in a pathetic attempt to do the next big thing.

Anyone remember SimGolf? Didn't think so.

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

I don't want a new element of design that'll make the game more cluttered, more micromanagerial. (don't get me wrong, I want more buildings or techs, as they don't create clutter/micromanagement)

I don't want Firaxis to focus on eye-candy rather than the editor.

I don't want the XP to be flawed or bug-ridden when it ships, because I don't want Civ's reputation to be definitely destroyed.

            Mostly said before, but

I don't want it to be more than $30

I don't want the focus to be civs that could be modded in, I want it to focus on the editor and editor AI strategies

I want it to have little amounts of bugs (Just make sure the editor works, it should be bug-free with everything else)

None of the annoying blue. I was stunned when I first loaded up XP and there was all this grotesque blue. Plus this happy little "Welcome" and the annoying start-up sound...

                    ...oh wait, you mean Firaxis

                    I dunno.

Hear! Hear! First they try to destroy the Civ name, then the MOO name. Now they aim for Atari!

I'd like a new era. Anything we want is acceptable, right?

Of course, that would never happen... I miss CTP space and undewater cities...

Come on guys. Let's face it. There will not be another expansion. And in all honesty, if there was, I wouldn't buy it. There are some really good strategies games coming out right now

Besides, they will soon be announcing plans for a Civ 4 at the upcoming E3. The news has just barely leaked. I hope you're all excited!

What? Where did you hear that? They will announce something at E3, but I doubt very-very much that it'll be civ4. It doesn't make sense. SMAC2, maybe; or some dino game, or maybe another one from the civil war collection. But civ4? Nahh...
