  • Jusr received from GS. The two techs were supposed to be offered last turn as well by the way. I have responded and said OK, we are on side. It means shutting down research for a couple more turns. That will allow us to go to a higher research rate when we start, but it still hurts.

    Here's the note:

    Plan for Republic
Greetings BetaHound, Jon, and People of Vox Controli,

My apologies for not getting back in touch about question of what directions our research should take more quickly. The main reason plotting a research course is proving to be complicated is the question of how trades with other civs will fit into the picture. We definitely want to get Republic quickly, but we also want Literature so libraries can help speed our research along the way. After some discussion with RolePlay, it looks like there is a good possibility of a trade to them for Literature if we get Code of Laws, so it seems worthwhile to proceed with our original plan (assuming you're willing). Specifically, if you would research Philosophy while we research Code of Laws, that would set things up for us to then go full speed for Republic (freeing us both from the pain of Despotism as quickly as possible).

We regret the inconvenience that holding up your research until we can provide you with Writing (which we should have in two more turns) will cause, but assuming the Literature deal goes through (RP won't give a firm commitment in advance), the gold surplus you build up along the way could be spent fairly quickly on library maintenance. And in any case, the benefits of Republic should be well worth the inconvenience.

By the way, was your not offering the two techs again this turn deliberate, or did you not realize you would need to make the offer again to keep it open? We hope our wanting to formalize the trading partnership agreement is not causing you too much concern.

    Sincerely,

    The People of Gathering Storm

      • warrior code and mysticism.

Also - Ghengis offered up math for mysticism in an earlier proposal - which if they want to fine. I think we still owe them 15 gold as well. Let me revist things here for a bit.

If you want - I can play the turn tonight Diss. Your call. We are up next. It went to RP about an hour ago.

            • As per the discussion in moves - here is the letter to GF.

              Hi Ghengis.

Trust all is well. Lux's apologies for the confusion over the recent trades. I have gone back and revisited them, and I noticed we still owed you 15 gold. I put that on the table. Also - you had mentioned mysticism for mathematics, which works for us as well. I put Mysticism on the table as well. If you put math and accept, we can conclude the deal on our turn. That deal will be for the contact - Neu D and GS, the two techs, and 15 gold from us to you. This has been quite the flurry of activity; and again, our apologies for the delay in getting our act together. We also honored the other part of the three way deal and provided the GS contact to RP as discussed. GS has been informed of the arrangements and is looking forward to expanding their contact and markets.

              Cheers! ... Beta

              • And this sent to Nuclear Winter: (RolePlay)

NW - my apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I'm glad to hear you are well. Squid hunting is dangerous business.

Speaking of buisness, we have much to discuss, I agree. But for now - as it is late - a quick note to inform you we have approved the contact for RP with Gathering Storm, our great neighbours to the south. You will see that when the save arrives. This was our end of the three way bargain reached between Glory of War, Vox, and RP.

It has been a pleasure, and we look forward to expanded business arrangements.

                Regards ..... Beta.

                • And this to GS - and guess what Diss - I forgot the two techs as well. Sorry.

nathan - I just played the turn and I forgot to send them as well. Not playing dumb here guys - it is late for me, and there was stuff going on with the other teams. We will send next turn. Sorry. But the save has gone to Lux already.

Anyways - we agree to the conditions below.

Also- you should be aware that you now have contact with RolePlay. That WAS approved this turn. Also - you should have contact with GoW next turn - we are concluding a larger deal with them. Lux also wants contact, but neither of us have writing yet. I will see what I can get from the when I do. They were offering math which they say will be finished in a 'few' turns.

And incidentally, Lux is having diffciulties with Neu D. Also, we should be getting contact with Neu D as part of the larger GoW deal. Will keep you posted.

And oh yes - we have kept research on hold - stockpiling gold for research on philosophy or code of laws.

And - one warrior is heading back down the road. As our northern cities grow, we weren't certain about the difficulty level and disorder and wanted him on stand-by in case we were surprised. It is clear that the diffciulty bug has defaulted us down to an easier level.

That's it. Sorry again about the techs. You could say it is a conspiracy. Last night it was Dissident. Tonight it was me.

Anyways - cheers - good night. .... Beta.

                  • So I "accidently" wandered to a channel named "darekill" on IRC...

                    The people there were :
arne Borc Zayxus helios Togas_at_work darekill

It took them a few moments to realize i'm not authorized to be there and ask me to leave. I complied, but brought back one chat line from the negotiations. Do whatever you want with it.

Unforunately I didnt remember who wrote it, so I dont know what team he belongs to.

Of course but the better part of the deal is by you, you dan't need to go to war.

Maybe I'll create a thread title. Put up the 2 techs for GS next turn

                      • Maybe we will need something like that. However, I have chatted with nathan by pm and he is OK about it. I think they are to the point now where they realize it was an honest mistake on our part - albeit over two turns.

                          • Eli - nice grab!! It would appear that there are tensions between RP and Neu D. I get the feeling that the big continent is not a place of warmth and love.

Anyways - got this back in response from RP. Seems we are getting a solid reputation. Not sure what GoW thinks of us - no word back yet from Ghengis. Maybe we will see when the save gets here.

                            MY good old chap Beta,
Thanks for the deal. It is good to see we can actually trust a team of this game when it comes to deals .
Again, I would like that your team put something over the deal table, so that we can put an offer.
Also, we are eager to discuss the non-agression deal.
                            See you later my friend,

                            • Picked this up in an intersite game discussion on city placement. It was all about whether you build close, or go for border expansion and take a risk. Looks like Lux got burned. Posted by Donegeal.

"Screw what I said before about setting our border and backfilling.
ICS is the only way to go as evidenced by the PTW Team game.
Lux overextended its "claim" and is now in quiet the pickle"

                                Yes - I agree.

Despite it being un-intentional on both Diss' part and mine, there is some value to it. Wouldn't want to go a third turn though. But in the big scheme of things, they are not waiting on anything because of it. But it is a very solid indication of our good faith.
