Well - we can make nice with them - at least to start.

well at least they didn't start too close to us. At least it doesn't look so- unless they went the wrong direction. We would have found them by now. But we will have to clear the jungle. We will need the cities there, because we need the room. Our industrious workers will make good work of that though.

Yup - the jungle may be a bit of a blessing in disguise. Time will tell.
And yup - I would have thought we would meet someone by now. How big is the map we started on? There are only seven civs, so we would have started reasonably far apart.Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

Warriors moved and renamed to :
Willy the Wandering Warrior.
Tim the Warrior.
I didnt know how to name the third so he's still Warrior.
The fourth is Rodney the Warrior.

Actually, I don't care if its the 2nd or 3rd city - but we need to place a city at that choke-point and be able to sail our ships through the city and across our continent. This will be very advantageous later in the game, plus the city would effectively seal the bottle neck from any possible land expansion by our opponents.____________________________

Eli - great - thank-you!
Thadeus was the third Warriors name.
Regarding city sites - I thought the concensus from earlier was to build the 2nd city on the south side of the lake. I only see two choices - the first plains square - it was right below the 2 on The Voice's city banner on the 3150 screen shot. ie the square right below the point western end of the lake.
I recall its advantages being that it would have the lake, be close for low corruption, and could access the grassland and hill squares at that end of the peninsula. Another big advantage is that the settler can make it there in one turn.
Hey - you guys convinced me about the advantages of a second city close to the capitol. I'm in agreement.
The second spot would be one to the east of the spot described above. But it would take two turns to get there, without any material difference.
For the third city site - I'm with Wittlich. Right on the chokepoint.
And looking ahead to number four, well - I'm a big fan of the land grab - and I can see a wheat tile down there....
Or alternatively - the point of land east and south of the chokepoint - south of the whales. Strikes me it would have potential - including the whales in a an expansion or two. But I would still vote for the fast expansion and then backfill.Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

OK this is an old screen shot, so the units aren't in this position now. I'm still confused where we want the second city site. I marked 4 numbers on the map. Which one did we want? Or neither of those?
It looks like Betahound likes city site 3. It won't get the whales on the sea though. I know sea squares aren't that good, esp. for pruduction. I just want to see how you guys utilize sea squares.
I was going to post this until I realized I couldn't . I'll mail them.

I was actually thinking of the spot above where you have marked the 3, Diss, right above the worker. That would put it on the lake which means we won't have to worry about an aqueduct in the future. We will have to irrigate some plains eventually. And we probably won't get the whales - but as Eli pointed out, the capitol has hills and grassland to share. That top part of the peninsula is the best stuff around, let's make the most of it. So, I vote for the spot above 3 - and I think he can make it there in one turn.
My second vote is for spot 1, but my concern there is that it looks like none of the original eight city tiles will end up on the grasslands. This will hinder the city growth significantly. The spot above the three will mean that the three tiles from north to west will all be grasslands squares. This is the biggest plus going for the spot above number 3 - lets call it 3A .Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.
