It is interesting that Citizen Ninot was not simply executed outright... a display of Togas' great mercy this is. A trial gives Ninot an opportunity to prove his innocence.

We can trust the Watcher that this trial will be fair... even if the defendant is already dead

What is this rediculous nonsense?! What could Ninot have done that is against the law, which we don't have yet?
He has served the Lord Togas for so many years. This smells to betrayal of Ninot!
Let Ninot go in freedom! Immediately!

Uh oh...Señor Aidun, don't you know we have thugs who hide in the bushes and jump out and beat people who say that kind of thing?

As for this, I am sure Grand Despot Togas or Watcher DAVOUT have a reason for this. (DAVOUT's semi-fued a while back with Ninot might have something to do with this...)

I call for the arrest of Aidun Cian as well! He is obviously in league with the traitor to Lord Togas. This sort of ridiculous talk must not be allowed to continue, it is a danger to our safe and glorious society!

Very interesting stuff, this. But I wish to know what the charges amount to. High treason is all very well and bad...but what is the evidence? If the evidence is secret, that is understandable, but all the same, I should like to see cause.

However, Milord Togas would not act in such a manner unless he had great reason to do so.

As for Ninot, an odd chap he. Two days ago, before the warrant was issued, I could have sworn I saw him hastily packing his bags and preparing to sneak out of town. I trust this foul traitor shall be caught, tried, and despatched soon enough. Thus to all traitors, for they are all unmutual, and we can't have unmutuals running around our villages, can we?

His father, I must admit, is now most famous for slightly corrupt methods of control in his term as Madrid's governor. Indeed, on one time he threatened my very life, backing himself up by saying he had the power to kill anyone he pleased, and no response would be made. Shortly afterward he lost power. It is sad to see such corruption in two generations of the family, I trust future generations will be models of Spanish loyalty, however.

And Senor Aidun, remember that priests that commit treason are apostates, and that is the highest of all crimes, the penalty of which is the most unbelievably horrible death ever devised. After this execution, too terrible to describe, your body would be thrown to the wolves and the worms, and the rite of Abandonment would be said. Your soul would burn away, and you would die eternally the most painful deaths, as a play-thing for the demons. I suggest you retract your statements, old boy.

                            Ambassador to Neu Demogyptica
                            Empire growing,
                            Pleasures flowing,
Fortune smiles and so should you.

                              A message from Aidun Cian.

                              A message from Aidun Cian:

                              My Lord, dear Watcher,

I meant no offence to both of you.
What I meant to say is the I can't believe that citizen Ninot is a traitor. He served the great Lord Togas so well: he advised the most honoured Lord Togas on many issues and I can remember that Mylord was very thankful for that.

First of all want to see evidence and until it is brought before all of us and the treason of Ninot is proved, I shall call this ridiculous nonsense.

I see it as my duty as a citizen of Spain to stick up for another citizen in his hour of need.
Too many people, some of them well known and respectable, have kept their mouths shut because they were afraid to protest. Afraid that they themselves would perhaps be arrested. They should be ashamed!
They have forgotten the ancient values that our ancestors learned us.

Try find me and to arrest me if you like Spain to become a country where everybody distrusts another; a country where people betray their own kindred: 'rather he than me'; a country where people live in constant fear that they might be cought by their own kindred for a crime they did not commit and for the glory of the great leader!

                              Thus I have spoken.

I salute you, most exalted Lord Togas and his Watcher.
