Thank you for your letter, although I have to admit I too am somewhat shocked at your response.

My intention was to communicate to you my people's concern and their misgivings. I believe that our good relationship is in danger if we keep acting suspicious of each other and watching each other like hawks.

As your nation took a great deal of new land to settle in from Lux Invicta by a massive display of force, we settled peacefully and took land via the use of our strong Spanish culture. We both have sufficient lands in which to settle on and we could very safely live side-by-side in peace ...

But I am sleepless these nights. My people learned well from the history of your breif war with Lux Invicta, and my people remind me how your scouts were inside Lux Invicta territory just prior to your invasion of them. My ministers constantly whisper in my ear that Arne is in our land to help guild the coming invasion of Spain ... to help pick the best spot to attack us!

It is a frightening thought that, although somewhat far-fetched, is gaining support amongst the nobles. I fear that this hysteria will lead both of our nations down the wrong path.

There is no debate: Arne has never crossed into our cultural borders, never interfered with our travel and has caused us no damage and for that I must commend you. You have been very polite guests. But you must admit that even a perfect guest can tire his host. Eventually, he wears out his welcome. I fear that we are at that point.

I send this letter not as a threat and not as a mask of some ill-deeds to come. Spain wishes to peacefully settle in the land that the gods have blessed us with and we wish to become the best of friends with your proud and strong nation. I send you this letter to ask this favor of you ... a favor that I hope you will give to me to help ease the tensions of my people and to create a strong bond of trust and friendship with you.

Greetings esteemed foreign affairs collegue. I hope your nation is going well. We both expressed desires for increased trading in our fireside chat on the Wittlich Straight beach the other day. And I hope we can do that. We are currently hoping for a deal for currency. We are currently researching that and hope to trade that with you for perhaps Polythesium in the future. If there is any difference in the cost our thinkers are expending I'm sure we can agree to make up the difference. Our nations thinkers are very picky about gold for their endeavers I understand. It is a bit early perhaps, but we do not want to wait too long as with Map Making. We would have liked to traded that with you if our other deal wasn't already finalized. Well it is time to get our crops planted for the spring season. So I bid you well, Dissident.

Long chat with Ghengis Farb this morning. Revealed the following:

Legoland offered to sell Republic, Construction, and Currency to GoW for 250g. He was trying to get us to chip in 50g and pay a portion of that. I told him not to do it. We don't want Republic. I told him not to do the deal at all, as it gives Legoland way too much cash. He insists that it's top secret, Legoland told him not to reveal it. I told him we'd keep it confidendital ... so long as he remembered to send us the gold from his Polytheism sales.

He agreed to send the Polytheism cash.

He is interested in a tech alliance, hopefully tieing in ND, as it seems that GS & Lux and now Lego are cooperating too much, and have pulled ahead of us in the tech race.

I said we would be very interested in a tech alliance and scolded him for giving away our tech lead to Legoland.

I told him we are considering a defensive alliance. He believes Vox & GS will "invade" our continent. I am more concerned about ND, but I indicated that an alliance would also protect us from GS & Vox if they did "invade" us. Most likely they'll move into Old Luxia.

He wanted to establish a southern coastal city in our south. I told him we'd be "pissed off" if they did. Told him we're building a harbor, they need to build one, and we both should trade via harbors. Offered to trade them iron so that ND doesn't crush them with Chivalry comes.

Cooperation seems to be increaseing. GoW is watching the rest of the world work together and they need a partner to keep up. I agree. We're going to fall behind and our large military budget is cutting into our technology.

GoW wants to whore Monarchy but I made it clear to Ghengis that I don't want to whore it. If we trade it, we will give it to a few key nations with no-trade clauses.

GoW had one very interesting idea ... declare war on Republic nations across the seas for the sole purpose of causing them War Weariness. The idea has some merit although I doubt GoW will be foolish enough to do it.

How are things going. I hope your crops grow strong. Ours have been growing better lately. We do get rains in from Wittlich straight.

I think you asked about our polythesium deal with GOW. It is good they shared the wealth. I was out of the village at the time of the deal, and was not available to approve of it. I would have liked to pay less of our hard earned gold, but the deal was decent. I believe we payed 49 gold for Polythesium.

We got sidetracked in our plans for researching currency. And we are shopping around for it. Did your nation have intentions on buying it from New Demo? Perhaps you have better relations than we do. Their demands are steep. If need be, perhaps we can donate some gold to help sweeten the deal for New Demo, if you need the extra pursuasion to get the deal through. Say they may want 100 gold or so. We could give you 50 gold and we could share the tech between us. I was hoping you have a better influence on the nation of Neu Demo.

Nuc Winter -- Let vox know that we are planning to buy Currency from either ND or Legoland, depending on who offers the lowest price. We would be happy to split the cost with Vox, though, and we'd like to meet with them to chat about it and work out the details.

Also war weariness is much lower when the republican/democratic nation is the 'attacked' one...

War weariness has no affect at all in MP. I have been in continuous war in Republic for 20+ turns in MP games with no ill effects.

I have made informal contact with Darekill of Neu Demogyptica. Picahulu, the official Amabssador, has disappeared, and Darekill, although very busy, has told me he will handle any contact we need with ND. I told him I understood the amount of time required and that he would hear from me only when it was important.

Luckily he checks his 'Poly PMs frequentyy, else I have no idea how to find these guys!
