[ooc] Back again. The thing ended earlier than I'd expected.
We know the name of the city from the F11 screen, as reported by none other than Togas himself. [/ooc]
Of course, here are some facts to consider.
Unorthodox has been noted in the Far East of China as a newspaperman, an editor of such works. What is a newspaper, however, other than a piece of propaganda? If such is the case, this could be merely some Chinese plot that he has cooked up to mislead us in our thoughts about his civilization's lands. I would not discredit this evidence, but would not be quick to accept it as the truth, either.

It's all propaganda. They posted that humorous fake start of being stuck on an island and some people actually started to wonder if it was true, so they're continuing the charade by naming their city Atlantis, etc, etc.

That is just a disinformation. If such a thing could happen I have no doubt that it would documented (and even fixed by some patch) by that time.
I think that Glowy of War is trying to making us believe that they are really dumb warriors, but they are as smart as any other."Never trust a man who puts your profit before his own profit." - Grand Nagus Zek, Star Trek Deep Space Nine, episode 11

Maybe they really started near an ocean, and therefore decided to rename their city Atlantis, but *afterwards* this city name gave them the idea of making this obviously fake starting position with the editor."Great artists have no country."

I suspect you are thinking about it to much.
All will become apparent in time.

I'll say this now as a quick warning to people tempting to do so...
Be warned of the temptation to "go native". As the RP Team ambassador to a given other human civ, there will be a temptation for you to empathize with them and for this to color your advice to the rest of us. If you happen to be somewhat alike to them, this is partially inevitable (we can hope for ambassadors from other teams to ours to "go native" more often than with other teams
), but we should attempt to avoid it ourselves where possible.
Just a little reminder

I, Togas' most loyal and humble servant, shall never be tempted by this, rest assured. Indeed, of what I have seen in Arabia I am disgusted. They eat only poorly cooked meat, and they shun our pork. They feast on dates and figs, and they run about madly blowing into a strange device they call a hookah. They say that is is a form of smoking. It looks obscene. As for their religion, I was repulsed by how evily they practice it. They sit around in giant groups and slap their foreheads against the floors. I would never be won over by such madness.

Yes. That goddess is their most important one. They call her Allaht. As for their male god, he is unimportant in comparison.
[ooc] Yeah, I know. Historically they had two gods, one of whom was a girl named Allaht, who over time became a guy named Allah. Something odd about that. [/ooc]Empire growing,

There are six other nations out there. Who we wind up next to will be the key factor in our diplomatic relationships, however, coming into contact with all of the other civs as soon as possible is preferred.
There has been some discussion about trading minimaps. I'm not opposed to this idea but there are many who feel this would be an "out of game" cheat, and since we are a Roleplay Civ that is dedicated to playing our history as we learn advances, we should not do this unless (of course) everyone else does.
That being said, there is nothing wrong with our people telling stories about our location so that we may meet other civs. Of course, this could really hurt us if someone wanted to come to our location to attack us.
Therefore, we need to determine who we want to come into contact with first, and work hard to get some cooperation as to meeting in the middle.
The following summary might help:
"Our civ is located just below the equator on a large landmass. The ocean is to the south-east of us."
Can anyone else add to this?
