I don't think this turn turned out as critical for us as it could
Well, I think Vox certainly made the smartest move in dividing their forces. The situation is far from being a disaster for us, but if the RNG isn't kind to us we could be in BIG trouble next turn.
/me worships the RNG in an attempt to appease it and spare us it's wrath.

Yeah, maybe it's not that critical, but sure is the most tense one so far... all the anticipation, 3 weeks of warning before the real war broke out, this simply has to erupt. Let's hope the climax is liberating enough
I don't know if Vox did well to divide their forces. Obviously, they're still thinking they can walk over us, and in that respect, dividing their forces would be best. However, when looking at it in our PoV, the best thing they could do was to stay on the mountains until they had enough reinforcements to make one massive SoD, which could then take almost all cities, maybe even Arashi. I think their problem lays in underestimating us, while we have been careful (at least the last few turns) to not underestimate them.
I don't know about that DeepO. Would we have been happy if Vox attacked Arashi this turn? I think we would have been, since we were very confident that we'd come out on top in that fight.
Would we have been happy if they delayed their attacks for 2 turns and waited on Arashi9 for reinforcements? I think we would have been, since that would have given us time to produce even more defenders. Our production advantage means that any delay, even one turn, in the action of the war helps us.
Are we happy that Vox have split their forces 3 ways? No, I don't think we are. We're not panicking yet, of course, but IMHO it's the most troubling move they could have made.
In fact I think they're NOT underestimating us. They know our defences are spread a little thin, they know we can out produce them. The most sensible plan (again IMHO ) is to attack *now* and to attack in more than one place.
Anyhow, that's all a bit meaningless, since what's done is done and we have to deal with it. We'll win .. probably.

If they were going to split like that, they should have waited a turn. If they had waited, they might actually have been able to take more of our units out of the picture by splitting up early than by concentrating, since some of the time we'd lose the first battle and have to send in a second unit. So counting both dead and injured, we'd suffer significantly more casualties than they would, improving the odds of their big stack making it to [edit] EotS. But as things stand, they're giving us time to attack, heal, and attack again, so their losses will probably be higher than ours.
If they could come multiple routes and all end up at EotS at the same time... big trouble. Thankfully they cannot.
OTOH, distracting as much as they can while they move the stack of 8 directly at EotS is not a bad plan. I detect a better mind at the controls than we previously suspected while we happily pumped out settlers for sites we cannot defend.
What they did not see when they started this was EotS at 12 pop, and they never have seen Hurricane. If we win, it will be because they failed to take some detail, or potential into account. We are a ways from winning, and we should not ignore the details.

I don't know... I 'm actually pleased they spread out, instead of keeping to the mountains. I agree they shouldn't have attacked Arashi, and waiting on A9 isn't really an option. If we defeat the 2 immortals next to Monsoon (which everybody agreed to as being a lost cause, and a bonus if we hold on, but certainly no priority), we get another turn before any immortal can attack something besides Arashi. Which means we have 2 turns to attack them, instead of 1...
The main problem with splitting up forces is that it makes it easier for us to focus on a smaller stack, which we can take out completely, instead of only hurting. If they had moved their 11 immortal stack onto the floodplains, there was no option for us to defend it without extreme luck from the RNG. Most of our units will hurt another unit, and not outright kill it. If you have enough units, that means you will lose minimal, whereas if you have few units, you lose all to the second wave.
I don't think the underestimation was done last turn, it happened right before attacking us. It was a strategic mistake to not mass their forces before killing Grog, all the immortals we see could have attacked Arashi this turn. There was no way we could hold that, so we were lucky they didn't do it like that. I agree that, given the current situation, splitting up wasn't a bad choice...

Very true. Vox has certainly improved, but it makes this game a lot more fun.
Sorry guys, I have to leave for a couple of hours. For the moment, I would favor rushing 1 cat in Monsoon, and 1 in Sandstorm, but anything you decide will be okay. See you soon!
I didn't get any screenshots.

I just resent it, although since the first one didn't get through, I don't know whether this one will or not. You do normally get the shots from me without problems, right?
Yeah.
Ugh, wait, I can't check my mailbox for some reason. An unfamiliar error... and the same one for the softhome box! WTF is going on, I'm not running any... oh crap. Now I get it. I'm an idiot. Stupid Email proxy.
Sorry to have bothered you for nothing. I'll fix it and fetch the screenshots.

Did you send them to the softhome box as well? I can check that one via the web interface.
