Opens up into 3 plains with a Mountain W2 from the current position of the settler.

Could we have another screenshot please, now that our turn is over?

Unfortunately, it seems to be a bit late to do anything about it, but the "least food" argument for choosing plains over grassland to settle applies only if there won't be time to improve the tiles (which was why I asked whether another 2-food tile was available if we settled the grassland). With improvement, both plains and normal grassland are two food and one shield, but it takes less time to irrigate a plains tile than to mine a grassland.

Well I'm late but I say on the start location, it will do nicely. It's nothing compared to NYE's start on the PBEM other PBEM game....

Yeah, I'm late as well, but the start looks nice. As to moving the settler: good, as long as there is more food nearby... I'm all for balanced tiles in the early game, irrigated flood plains will give more food then you need, but doesn't bring any shields, so mined grallslands would be better for me. But please, settle the next turn, don't go exploring too far

The only reason for moving at all was to avoid wasting a tile with a production bonus. I think we're ready to settle next turn.

Start our research with Bronze Working, as originally planned?

nathan, Re: settling position: if the settler moved one tile SW from the start, it would now still be on a fur... a mixed blessing, as you have more instant commerce, but less possible shields. I would settle now to not lose a turn, otherwise I would have moved 1 tile W instead of SW, to get off the fur. I guess it's just a matter of taste, though.
