We are in total agreement, and we remain focused on the fact that our common foe, the Monarchists, will leave an immense wealth ; we have to be extremely careful on the choice of the honorable and wise citizens whom will be entrusted with this wealth. As they are certainly in limited number, it cannot be excluded that the same reliable persons will be required to take care also of the treasures of the Great Banana, and we must provide them with a reasonnable time between the two steps for protecting national properties.

    Vive la République !

hmmm, we have Republicans now... and apparenlt people who prefer to wait for Democracy, who can be called Democrats?

Republicans and Democracts have invaded our game!

whatever happened to the old parties of Warmongeres and PeaceBuilders?

      Apolyton has lost it's way.

although republic looks good, we are awfully close to Democracy

however, we have the religious advantage of only losing one turn.

      Soyeah, republic is looking good.

[roleplay] and we will forever be rid of tyranny![/roleplay]

Don't forget that Civ3 tracks war weariness for several turns and switching to Republic immediately after the war will still use the previous turns of war for computation of war weariness.

It might be wise to wait a bit for the War Weariness to work out of the formula before switching to Republic/Democracy.

However, for roleplay purposes we should have a few battles between the opposing forces before we switch.

I see the following groups: Monarchists, Republicans(support Republic, not the Capitalist Party of the US), Democrats(support Democracy, not the Socialist Party of the US), and Tyrants (want to go back to Despotism). If we can get people to state which group they wish to be in, we can have a few mock conflicts to add to our history.

As Lord Protector of El Nino Province I oppose this movement. These rebels will only bring strife and misery to our provinces.

PM me if you want to start a Royalist Legue.

It is a front for various independent parties and groups committed to the change to republican governance. Recognizing that many forces favor a switch to republic, a front is established in which all of them may gather their forces to contribute to this effort.

As with most such organizations, it likely will not survive its own success, the myriad groups which combined to bring about the change in regime splitting back to their independent and opposing positions once the previous regime has fallen.

However, for now, we can be united in this front, this opposition to the monarchy.

(in short, no - not really )

A truly strong Apolyton requires what has been called Democracy *and* the seperation of church and state! And freedom! Freedom of, speech! All Apolytonians should be able to state whatever they want without fear of retribution!

Republic is not an option until we stop the war. Yeah, I want it for real, but I hate war weariness.

I think in CivIV there should be an option in Republic and Demo to spend any large amount of money to brainwash the public and thus significantly lessen war weariness.

Uhm... spending large ammounts of money to reduce freedoms and liberties?

wouldn't that just be monarchy, with a title change?

after all... making less overall money, and your people can't complain.

[OUT of roleplay for a moment here...]

Ok, given the recent poll by Duddha, obviously I need to explain this a bit further...

The ARF is *NOT* an electoral party and likely will not be putting up candidates for elections and participating greatly in electoral politics. Therefore, it does not exist in the same manner as the DIA or the Hawks (or that pointless little party known as the "ARE"... ). Rather, it is a single-issue advocacy group dedicated *solely* to changing the government to a republic. Once that goal is met, the ARF will no longer have its issue and will likely disband (unless it continues in the role of "Guardians of the Revolution" or other such fun ).

Members of ALL parties (and definately independents) are welcome to align themselves with the ARF in pursuit of a republican form of government. They can disagree on every other major issue before the people of Apolytonia, but *all* would agree on switching to Republic (even if that's the ONLY thing some of them agree on ).

I think that clears up the issue.

                          [roleplay]

Thank you, and may we soon have an end to this wretched monarchy!
