I am proposing to split the duties of this position among several regions. For more on my rational on this, see this

edit - da*n cat. Stepping on the keyboard at the wrong time.

    link here. .

OPD will be managing region #1, which will include the following cities:

    Termina
    Apolyton
    Tassagrad
    BHQ
    chartres (occupied)
    orleans (occupied)
    rheims (occupied)

Region #2 I will be managing:

    Del Monte
    Timeline
    Gaia
    mycenae (occupied)
    boston (occ...
    washington
    chicago
    argos

Region #3 Rendelnep will be managing this region.

    Seeberg
    Napolyton
    geofront
    Ubergorsk
    Loveshack
    munich (o)

Region #4 jdjdjd will manage these cities - all cities are currently occupied

    paris
    marseilles
    rouen
    lyons

Please note that these regions are preliminary and are subject to shifting as the game progresses (to keep our sence of mapping in order). For example, timeline will probably be switched to region #1 once more of the occpied cities come under our control.

OPD, rendelnep and jdjdjd have all agreed to manage their regions. Each will be coming up with a name in the near future (how they do this is up to them). If you have any suggestions, please post them here or if a seperate thread has been created, I will shortly post a link to it in the first thread. Remember, you can also link to this thread (instead of having to search through umteen pages) through the topped directory thread.

Region number 2 I am leaning toward calling "state of insanity", however that just doesn't seam to fit terrably well. So help me (and our entire nation) out and suggest something.

I'm going to add an addendum to my current statistics to include stats specific to the regions, if you don't mind.

Ok, it's up. I've kept all the stats in the top post of my thread. I included population and economic data on the region...
It's interesting. At this point Region #1 is still by far the most powerful, and while Region #3 has more people than #2, they produce the same amount of income.

I'm looking forward to the regions being named.

reddawg, I fear that my provence could be the main cause for all that diesease. Frankly we need lots of land development in my provence. I 'll have to start moaning at the public works minister to get some of the bloddy jungle cleared.

rendelnep, yes it looks like a signifcant amount of the pollution comes from your region... lol. but the statistics are supposed to be unbiased and i didnt wanna spit propaganda TOO much... but youre right. the focus of public works seems to be in that area... before we have population dying off from disease! we're already 12th in population, which is pathetic.

I humbly propose the following region name

                  The State of Pina Colada.
(It's capitol is after all Del Monte!)
I used to be a builder. That was before I played Civ III

                    Godking :
We all know we must go to Uber Isle as soon as possible. We have the galleys to do this, and they'll be avalable soon. But we'll also need a settler, and none is ready, none is being built (except the Del Monte one)
In what city do you intend to build this settler ?

Since it'll probably be in Province #1, I suppose OPD can answer that too.

How many settlers are required and in how many turns.
One settler will be built in region one soon.
                      Are we having fun yet?

The settler should be ready ASAP, as the gallies are done with transporting the troops for the franch war, and will soon be coming home to do the exploration of uber isle.

This all assumes Uber Isle is worth settling.

The first wave will send a ship to the isle, do some prelim exploration (to make sure it is worth sending over a settler). Then the ship comes 1/2 way back. If it survives, we send the settler out (OPD is proposing to be built in termina, ready in 5 turns), jump ship 1/2 way and get to the island. If we have a spare spear or warrior to go along, exploration will be that much sooner. First production for the new city will either be a warrior or a worker (depends on the need) followed by either a harbor (to get the lux. on the island) or other settlers, as most appropriate. Assuming the island is uninhabited, defensive units will be warriors at first (as they are 1/2 cost) then over time upgrading to spears, pike or muskets (whatever we have). If of a large size, we will REX the island while focusing on internal development on the mainland.

Figure 3 turn for the ships to get home. 3 more to have one cross, and explore, 1 to come 1/2 way back, then 1 to send the settler over. Thus in 7 we need the settler, and in 9 we have a new city (and perhaps a new provence?). With no ship losses. Longer if we need to increase the fleet again.

If uber isle is small (1 -2 cities) I will probably assign to region 1 (with OPD). If large, I shall keep control and make into a new provence when we have enough people over there. Ashame we don't have a chance at the lighthouse, would take much of the risk out of this. Oh well........

                          May I propose something?
IMHO, if the French war goes very succesfully and Region 1 (damn I want these named soon! lol) gainsthe three new, former-french cities, it will be very largely and grossly dominate Apolytonia politics.

so what im saying is this: if Uber Island only provides 2 cities and you assign them to region 1, then i think those french cities should be added to region four.

But personally i think whatever the case is, whether large or small, Uber Island should be a 5th region/overseas department!

The current regions are very fluid. I would like each to have around 10 cities. Each region should also be divided in some way by geographical features - I am leaning toward rivers as once all the jungle is cleared, it will all look like the same grasslands.... Eventually I think with this split, timeline would be better off geographically in region 1 as well, but for now it will stay in 2 to keep balance. (Because of its river location, timeline will be a powerhouse as it will not have to waste 30 odd turns in the future building aquaducts as most of our cities will).

Those 3 french cities will be useless for a long time. So I have no real reason to worry about them this term. Also, I doubt we will get all of them in this war (although I do hope we will). If region 1 does become overfull, then I will start shifting cities from one region to another, but that will probably be late in the term and I will try to set them up for the next administration.

I want names soon also. WIll make life much more fun in the Land of the Banana.

I'd like to see a viceroy appointed to manage all of uberisle even if it's just for the sake of role play.
