        Swordsmen cost 30 shields. Disbanding a swordsman inside a city gives you 7 shields.
        Hmm...
        Then again, we need a fast unit that can respond to threats faster than swordsmen and can withdraw from combat, so I guess horsemen are still a better choice.

            , nope , ....

            but the ones we have just sit around and do nothing , even costing money , ... so why not use them , all except one , ... (GA)

            what we also need to do is to look at the calculations and see what is the fastest way to get a unit , ...

              We don't pay upkeep (support for our units) at all because we get 60 free support (4 free support from every town, because we are a Despotism) and we only have 47 units.

                OPD, start on 2 war chariots in your region, a port (for trade purposes) and anything else you think will benefit us in this upcomming wars.

                jdjdjd, Balance, defence and culture. Make the cities productive, even if you starve the bastards.

                Please, all three of you, look at your areas and PM or post with specific strategies by 24:00 GMT tomarrow (tuesday) or 19:00 EST (5 hours difference, right?).

                That will allow me time to compile for MrWIA or UnOrthOdOx in time for Wednesday's play. Thanks.
                I will post here first PPC's cities for review and comment by the public sometime tonight.

                  Are you sure you want WC's built?

                  They cannot upgrade to horsemen, are bad defenders, can't attack the enemy if they are on the mountains near our cities and wouldn't be able to get to many of the enemy cities.

                  Would horsemen be ok instead?

                      Both horsemen and wc have the same attack and defence. Both upgrade to knight. WC have the jungle and the mountain drawback, but they cost 2/3 of a horse.

                      SMC has requested WC.

                      I can go either way, as our cities are to small to make having our golden age worth wild at this time.

                        The WCs are only good for dealing with Persia (mainly for attacking Sidon and Tyres). Since this is not a pressing matter it's better to wait until another 10 shields are gathered for a horseman than to waste our golden age.

                          IMHO WC's are completely useless for our current situation and as such I refuse to build any. Due to this and the fact that I have to work today untill 2am GMT and so can't make the deadline, the city planner is in charge of Mingapulco for this turnthread.

                          If it was up to me I'd build swordsmen in all four cities so it's probably best that GK is calling the shots.

                            I believe the SMC was thinking of upgrading the chariots to horsemen, speading production. I do not know if that is possible in 1.21 or not. If not, we may very well do better going straight for horse.
