Hi everybody...

And now the Koreans want in on it. But I don't have much choice. I have almost no military and am 8 turns or so from Sistine. Can't risk a war with Korea.

Hi everybody....

Okay, now it's getting old. Now that I finished Sistine I'm building up my army a little. I'm sick of getting pushed around. After Korea demanded contact I traded all I could on my turn before I lost the opertunity. I'm actually doing okay this time. Unfortuantly I'm about to lose the GL and then it gets hard.

Hi everybody...

Clearly India didn't want to be left out. Now all that is left is Rome.

My military now stands at 3 pikemen, 1 spearman, and 1 med. infantry. I'm turning out a new pikeman every 2 turns. I'm not stopping until they stop demanding I give them everything I have.

BigD, with your 3000+ Gold treasury, I'm sure you can afford the odd 100 Gold tribute! It's probably less expensive that building up all those units. I noticed you kept a large treasury in the other game too. There is really no need to do that. It's nice to have a "cushion" that helps you in case disaster strikes, but it's a better use of your money to keep paying tributes in order to (almost) ensure disaster never comes.

Concerning techs (like India demanding Engineering), just make sure you sell your techs before a civ can demand them in tribute. Even if you're not getting a "good deal" for it, it sure beats having to give it up for free, else bring war upon yourself.

I'm constantly impressed at your determination. Keep it up!

Hi everybody...

Well things are going okay. Thanks to a big war on the other continent I've been keeping right up there in techs. I've been pretty successful in researching the techs the AI isn't going for and then trading them for good gold and other techs.

Everyone finally stopped demanding that I give them stuff. I was right, everyone wanted to give it a try once. However a mini-disaster just struck. Now I'm gonna have to trade for even more. Luckily I started building up the Iron Works beforehand. I almost didn't.

I admit I have a problem with hording the cash. But usually I'll end up using it all at once. Like in 207 where I spent all of it rushing buildings in my outlying cities. But here I'm saving it up to buy techs. Besides there isn't much else to spend it on.

I managed to get Copernicus and Newtons. I'm doing an okay job at tech whoring but with the big war going on sometimes money's hard to come by.

I think I liked OCC warmongering better. This just sitting here checking with all the civs each turn and waiting for said building to build is kinda boring. But it's going a lot quicker. Heck, it's 1580 and I'm charging for ToE. Last game we didn't even make it that far by 2050. Big difference between chieftain and regent.

But dang it, it's the principle of the matter.

And I'd be sort of okay if it was only one civ doing it but everyone jumped on the bandwagon.

You could build it nevertheless, even if both resources were depleted.

Hi everyone...

Things are okay. I'm right up there with Korea as the tech leader. Of course getting ToE helped plenty. I managed to whore out a lot lately and am raking in the cash. And the plus side of that is it's less money the AI has.

I got espionage because I feel I'll probably need it late game to steal techs in order to get my space ship off the ground. Right now I'm able to research techs quickly enough but there're starting to take longer and longer. In the not to distant future I'm gonna drop research down to 0% and steal/buy what I need.

So I was putting spies into all the capitols and things are going fine. No problem with the Celts, India, and Korea. England caught it but no biggie. Rome however is a bunch of morons. They just got done with a war that spanned 300+ years and they go and declare war on me. Yeah right, like it's gonna effect me much. So instead I'm gonna buy everyone into the war on my side and hopefully slow research down even more. Here's hoping anyways.

Hi everybody...

I think Julius needs to learn a lesson. Don't pick fights with the guy with all the money. Yep, for under 2000 gold I convinced everyone to beat up on Rome. Luckily Rome ticked off a lot of people so it wasn't too hard to buy most of the civs into the war.

Hi everybody...

Well I made it to the modern age before everyone else. Rome is still bogged down in a war with everyone. Any time anyone makes peace with Rome I offer them some gold and back to war they go.

Unfortunatly Korea just keeps on going. They're right up with me and are actually a little beyond me. When we went to the modern age they got computers and I got ecology(woo-hoo

). So I traded ecology for a butt load of gold(trust me, that's a lot

) but didn't get computers. I also traded flight and motorized transportation to the other civs for some gold.

I'd say it's gonna be close. I'm hoping to keep everyone at war and pray I can build all the SS components. Another strategy I'm thinking of is going for a UN vote. I know I swore in my last post in the 207 thread that I'd never try to win with the UN again but I think I stand a good chance this time. Everyone except Julius is gracious towards me. It's worth a try anyways.

BigDork.....even if you dont go for UN victory build it anyway.......The Diplomatic Loss I suffered, I had 2 Leaders Gracious to me but they VoteD for Gandhi......I think it might have had something to do w/ Renegotiating numerous deals throughout the Game
