XP seems to have trouble with zip files that use WinZip or some of the other apps. DL the trial version of Winzip and it will be fine.

I've been having the same problem unzipping the files. I have XP, and have downloaded the winzip, but I can't even get THAT to work. I get the message that winzip81.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

I'd recommend UltimateZip, it handles Civ 3 saves the best of any of the compression utilities I've been able to get my hands on.

Underway, eh. I intend to play stock rules, Emperor. But I'm wiped from this weekend (traveling to/from NC to visit with relatives), so I may not start until tomorrow night.

              Winzip32.exe is what I have.

I had to download WinZip too. I never had trouble with XP and zipped files until now? Oh well, the Winzip 8.1 trial version did the job on my system.

It looks like the movement penalty for galleys in ocean tiles in the AU Mod is also hitting caravels and galleons. I haven't played far enough yet to see whether it's affecting more modern ships too or not.

I wonder why winzip didn't work for me? Probably some quirky thing I did to my XP. Oh well, UltimateZip worked a treat, so it doesn't really matter. Time to see if I can play a regent level game. Should be fun, since I'm only winning at Chieftain level.

Sorry about that. It's also the case for Frigates. All other ships are OK.

The AU 1.02 version is fine, but I missed those three ships in 1.01b. Sorry again.

A good place to ask this, maybe. I lost a temple in a city that had been shelled intensively by Man-O-Wars. I did not notice it at the time, but now I notice that the temple is missing I went back through saves and sure enough, it is between saves where the English are mad at me and taking it out on a Sumerian city under my protection.

The question is, is this *new* with 1.15, or did you guys do something that has naval bombardment destroying city improvements?

Naval bombardment, like ground bombardment, is able to destroy city improvements in C3C. Just as long as there are no units that can suffer damage in the city.

Units are tageted first, but when they are all at 1HP, bombardment works as in PTW against population and improvements.

Aaargh! The AAR threads are growing longer and longer and I haven't started yet! Looks like a good number of players participating

I'm going to try and start tonight.

It's a good thing! It's great to see a lot of players playing this game and having fun. I hope if there is anyone who is playing it, but doesn't want to post a DAR, they will post anyway. Even if you're losing, post what you've done and how you've gone about it. Someone can help you. That's what AU is for (besides having fun with a comparative game ).

I did not know that. I was going on reports from others that led me to believe that as not the case. I have never seen stacks of AI ships such that I could not respond either, and I never bombard beyond the last useful shot (for wounding) myself.

This is a wicked scenario from some PsOV.

When do we move on, Dom? Steam Power was such a long while ago.
