Alexman, when creating the scenario, did you want anyone to succeed? (I'm not talking about the early game...)

    Nice challenge though!

I guess that was an understatement then, eh?

      Sorry!

I have a reasonable expectation of victory on Monarch. I expect it to be really dicey, but I think I can do it.

Given another shot at it, I'd probably do even better (shoulda rushed the GL & built the FP manually, probably).

I'm currently playing on my usual level, regent. I just don't want to go down a level dang it. I'm gonna beat this on regent or I'm gonna well, get sick of it eventually and play the next AU when it comes out.

This is a very evil map.

I failed on my first attempt. Actually, I saw the writing on the wall and retired. I could hold the other civs off, but was gaining no ground and there was no hope in sight.

I'll give it another try, but I'll stay at Emporer. With the knowlege I have gained, I should have more success.

...you mean a "settler" or "worker" difficulty level?!?!?

Well, I started with the Japanese (regent). The first turns were quite easy and when I got to samurais, it was just "banzai!". Even riflemen and cavalry just slowed them down a bit. As soon as I convince them to use rifles and horses (3 turns away from Mil. Trad. when someone else just finished Women's Suffrage), I'll start conquering again.
The only wonder I managed to build was Pyramids, I got Magellan's Voyage and something else from conquering a city.
On a side note, I just declared jihad on the Americans: they dared to land 3 cavalries on my home continent and razed a size 12 city just before my samurais annihilated them.
I may be bruised, but I'm not beaten yet.

                  Dr. A. Cula:
You should post things like that in the spoiler thread.

I'm thinking about choosing either China, Germany, or the Aztecs.

                    Sorry, my mistake.

I decided to drop back to Monarch for this one, since Total Eternal Forever War isn't exactly my thing. I chose Persia as my civ because I figured an early GA might actually be a good thing for a slugfest, especially if I ended up next door to someone with an ancient UU. (After all, it's not like staying at peace with them until after their UUs become obsolete is an option. )

Nathan, I'm curious to see how you do, since I'm playing the same settings.

This is a stupid idea! Only stupid, blood thirsty losers would like this! Which is why I totally love it! Thanks man!

I can say I feel foolish for trying to stick it out. Gruesome.

I still haven't started (been busy) but have thus far avoided the temptation to read through the growing spoilers thread. I hope to start this weekend.

Just a warning: this scenario turned out to be really tough. There have been many good stories so far, but nobody has actually managed to win it yet.

You might even want to drop two levels from your norm.
