I pretty much always play the Germans. Blue is my favorite color and the Germans have neat city names. Plus, if I build more cities than the game has names for, I know enough German cities to keep the names appropriate. This is not the case for, for example, the Aztec empire. I might try another civ sometime, but for now the Germans work just fine for me.
