  • La Fayette, look at my previous post. I'm ok with ww79. Which civ shall we play?
Perhaps you can send DrFell the scn since last time it worked. He doesn't have MPE (otherwise he should have the scns), so he may not be able to read my MPE version files.

    • Xin - I have a converted from tot version of the game, which means I don't have the scns but I can read mpe files - I actually play multiplay quite a lot on the zone . By the way good result on the scenario, March 1915 is very impressive. I'll have to have a look at some of the saves if you post them on your site. There are 98 objectives I think - that's quite a lot destroyed!

      • DrFell,
Considering the power of caravan rehoming, it is reasonable for my to cut several turns to your record. Yours is still a pretty good record, if you did not do caravan rehoming.
I'm searching for a suitable template for the ww1 page. It should be pretty easy to upload the saved files afterwards.

        • I actually didn't use caravans at all in that one - I went straight for conquest selling buildings for cash. I was perhaps stuck in the same strategy I used for Rome and Alexandre - the main limit being how fast you can get to the cities, not the number of units. Got slowed down a bit a few times, especially when sending the transport to the USA. That added a few turns on to my time, if I'd sent it off straight away I probably would have done better. Might try rehoming in the next scn, if it's appropriate (haven't seen ww79 before).

          • Xin, just checked my emails - thanks for sending me the scenario, I'll have a look at it tommorrow

            • DrFell, please let me know if you manage to play the game sent by Xin Yu. My proposal is to play ww79 with the Indians.
But it would be nice if we manage to take a decision about rehoming. I rehomed many caravans before coming to Apolyton and learning that it is written somewhere on the camel that it shouldn't be done. What do you think?

              • La Fayette, let's leave it open. Just ask everybody to mention whether he used caravan rehoming.

                • Ouch! The first turn Soviet Declared war on Chinese, Western Europe, Northern American. Several A-bombs exploded in Soviet land, then the second turn Soviet retaliate and nuked two Chinese cities and several European ones. Skulls everywhere. Can we change the scenario and make pollution doesn't matter?

Indian only has 5 cities but the Middle East is an easy target. Just build some Howies and bombers and you can advance all the way to Africa. But afterwards needs to be careful. Nukes are really nasty.

                  • Hehehe, the same thing happened to me, I played as the europeans before reading any of the posts on here - I made peace with Russia and planned to trade some oil with the far east. But the USA nuked a couple eastern Russian cities, and on the Russian turn they nuked every city in China, and a couple in the US. There go all my far eastern trading opportunities, global warming here we come...

'DrFell, please let me know if you manage to play the game sent by Xin Yu. My proposal is to play ww79 with the Indians. '

Yep the scenario worked fine, I'll give it a go with the Indians too.

                    • AFAIK there is neither pollution nor global warming in scenarios (at least I have never met them in any scenario that I have played up to now). I guess we are going to see many skulls in the near future, all due to nukes and no one to industry, but no global warming to expect, I suppose.
                      Do you feel better?
(would be fun if the world is to be covered with skulls, except glorious India and a few neighbouring cities that we can make ours with a few howies!).

                      • I encountered global warming in Apocalypse scenario. Every now and then some of my good lands became desert and jungle.

                        • pollution yes

Perhaps I forgot something that happened.
Anyway there IS pollution in this ww79 scenario. I got one skull during turn #1 and another one during turn #2. With the number of nukes exploding all around we sure get global warming quite soon if it hasn't been disabled.

                          • I don't think it has been disabled - I'm several turns in and I just got the global warming warning. In my game Europe, China, and Eastern Russia are covered in skulls. Russia is really crushing Europe, but the Chinese just started nuking the western Russian cities before I took Beijing and bribed all their cities It cost a LOT though, and I think I probably would have been better off if I'd used howies. At least now I can send off a few more transports full of freight off to the USA.

                            • The best strategy to avoid nukes without SDI (never tried) is probably have all units out of cities and try to avoid enemy sneaking in. This requires some air superiority to kill close by units and some engineers to build fortresses to host troops. I really hate skulls. But unless I play as Russia I don't see a possibility to avoid a nuke war.

Don't play this one if you hate skulls: I think that any european city has been nuked at least twice in my game up to now (feb 82).

India has neither nuked or been nuked yet, but all yellow flags have turned purple with help of an industrious team of howies.
I am now at war with the better half of the world (Neutrals + Americans + China), so it looks like some heavy fighting ahead, even if it remains without nukes for a while.
