I believe I described that game Deity Dude extremely accurately. The point is, how did you out play me in that game?????? YOU DID NOT... Did I quit, yeap, it was boring, would I have lost if we played another 20-30 hours? probably, thats one reason why I quit. Am I "over it" , it never bothered me, other then 3 hours of my life Ill never get back, it just confirmed everything I already knew about 1 x 1 deity. Did I say I was better then you, no. Did I describe some tactical supuriority I used in that game to cut you off from most of the board , gathering most of the huts and destroying your incoming forces, every damn one within 25 squares of one of my citys, yes, exactly what happened..
Sorry if I dont find not opening huts as a strategy to consitant victories.

Sounds to me like you outplayed yourself by using 2x2x-king tactics in a 1x1x Deity game.

Instead of going for that all-important early mon you went for rapid expansion and huthunting, witch in itself is fine but you might want to wait opening most of them untill after you get a decent gouvernment

It's not a matter of "IF" you open the huts... more a matter of "WHEN" Sure, you always take the early huts. But once you have a few units, you start paying attention to where you are on the science path, and what a "free" science will do to you.

Sometimes it's better to leave the huts near you until the right time, and let your searchers go find some farther away. There is nothing worse than taking a hut one or two turns before being able to select a science that will give you a better government, only to have it take you off the path. I'll delay opening a hut a turn or two if I'm close to being able to take monarchy.

              It's all strategy and timing...

But those factors are only needed in rookie's games, as explained in rule 3. If you are going to progress you need to understand the rules Ming.......after all, you wrote them.

If you pop too many huts in 1x1x with no thought as to the consequences and it screws you over, you deserve to lose, especially if you aren't willing to fight it out.

Hmm, by strat's own tacit admission, you require more consideration with 1x deity hut popping than 2x king......you can't just pop and hope you get an easy path to victory. Which setting was for rookies again?

As can be written just by reading the fine forums at Apolyton

                    1) If you get off to a bad start, no matter what the reason, just quit and say you didn't really lose.

                    2) Never mention when other people actually beat you

                    3) If somebody does beat you, just claim that the settings they made you play on are only for idiots and morons, and claim you could have beaten the person on the settings of your choice

                    4) And if that doesn't work... call them a **** loser and accuse them of lying.

                    5) Any time you lose, just say it was bad luck and not really a loss. If you win, always claim it was skill, and not your opponents bad luck

                    6) If all else fails... cheat.

So there you have it. You too can be an instant expert at civ. And the best part about it is, you don't even really need any actual skill

good work, ming, i see you know me very well and my tactics of playing

only point 6 is nonsense: normally i cheat in normal games too - but nobody knows :R

the only think i lack is: im not the greatest player of the world :weep

                    greetings jes

Always have a few anonymous icq accounts so you can join games anonymously. Then when you win, you can unmask and claim your greatness, and when you lose you can make up a new anonymous icq account.

Now lets do some really simple math. Your first warrior on deity may go out and do exploration. But you must use your other units to keep the city happy. You really have no choice in the matter but to continually add units to your city in order to keep it happy. That means a slower expansion speed and a practically useless horserush. In fact, there's really no such thing as a rush on deity which is the real reason those of lower integlligence play it. No rush means the mentally challenged will have a chance to play sim city for a bit before any war starts. Then they'll sit there and say "Oh civ isn't a war game there's much better war games out there". Well civ also isn't sim city you stupid ****. I must remind myself to take pity on those less fortunate than me who are not blessed with an above average intelligence. Lets compare the strategies of 2x2x King to the strategies of 1x1x Deity. The size 5 city strategy is an example of how to lose no matter what setting. That's the only strategy I know of in 1x1x, there really hasn't been anything gound breaking that has been written. Take a look at my strategies that are on like 3 different sites, enough said. I also seem to remember some moron saying that 1x1x is what everyone plays, even on the zone? Not even close. Every ladder ever made was based on 2x2x duels, the zone is ALL 2x2x. Only place 1x1x is played is here among the lesser players who weren't able to take it on the zone. We run into people like you in age of empires all the time with titles on their rooms like "no rush" or "no attack before imp". We've even created a word for your kind, ROOKIE. If we were to have an apolyton vs zone tournament, do you really think you would win? I've beaten majority of you on 1x1x, and alot of you even on deity. Lets face it, you all suck and I have proven it over and over again. So go ahead and reply with your lame comments like "goes to get the popcorn", you only portray yourselves as the useless little geeks that you are.

On 1x1x you'll never be able to take 1 of my cities, it's just that simple. Even with suntzu and Lighthouse combined Markus was able to take my capital and that was all. He still got spanked horribly because I got all the happy wonders and Magellans, cancelled out the lighthouse and completely owned him. Why? Because defending on 1x1x is easy, too easy.
hm, i dont know you, HS, but i think, many of what you wrote is wrong:

                            - you can explore in diety and leave your city alone. just take 40% luxery.
                            - there is a ladder in germany where we play 1x1x diety
                            - rookies easly lose in 1x1x diety
                            - just play us, e.g. max or me, or both in a 3-way game in sim-modus, no cooperation alloewd of course, and you will loose cities, believe me.

hehe, will i get to know you?

Once Eyes was reiterating how much I sucked when I just happened to state that I had never played him before so what was he basing his opinion on. His response was that he had played me under an assumed name and kicked my butt. You can do the math.
