South East Australia is pretty much on fire. Over 300 homes were destroyed in the Canberra area yesterday, 2 people dead. Even the Victorian alpine region - Mount Hotham, where Makeo skis and works in winter - has been burnt out. It was this massive fire that moved north and is doing the damage in the Canberra area. Yesterday's weather was brutal - over 100 F and 40 mph wind - which, added to the drought, meaning everything is bone dry, is a recipe for disaster.
