Seriously, it's too bad that I don't like team play anymore. When MP first came out, that's all we did. Using the old arena games rules. They turned into racing through the tech path, caravan delivery games. And the turns would take forever as teams would trade techs/cities/wonders/units and prep cities for caravan deliveries every turn.
Kinda burned out on it and have played no-alliance games every since. Tribes would have been fun back then. Even though it would be fun to have War4 as a partner in a game. Maybe if the rules were tweaked to eliminate all the things that I didn't like about it, I'd be interested. But I doubt that will happen.

Now, strat and his Tribe took forever, but maybe they could get past that.

Team game turns take longer, but we play no city/unit swapping within reason (citys can be swapped for trade purposes, etc) and no caravan prepping, just set up a super trade city. Do most tech swapping outside your turns, etc. Turns don't take that much longer than any other four-way.
The tech race thing can be fixed by playing 2x moves
The swapping bit can get sticky.
Like, swapping cities for trade purposes.
I suppose it's fine if all are doing it, but it seems one of those "not in the spirit as intended" type things.
When I said flexible, I mostly meant settings; the other can be discussed I guess.
