  • Hamburg has been reclaimed, and the Soviet transports were destroyed by the Luftwaffe. The offensive in the East continues, as the Wermacht regroups, reinforces itself. A small offensive secured the town of Kalinin. The end approaches for Communism.

      • oops, sorry

For about the 4th turn in a row, all the production in my cities is screwed up and lazyciv won't fix it.

As such, the citizens of the US are preparing to greet their new Japanese overlords

        • Lazyciv stopped working for me too, were your problems anything like this?
          Unbelievable!

          • Um, they might be. I don't keep old files on my computer, and don't have the patience to dig back through all my old posts

It's been acting up a bit in the Imperialism game at CFC, though not quite to the same extent. Humph.

            • Just wondering if it was the same problem. If this is happening to a lot of people it'd be worth bugging Xin Yu about.

                • Travelers report government officials and civilians fleeing Moscow by the tens of thousands. This endless struggle will finally be decided in less than a month.

On the bright side, TWO more industry complexes razed, both outside Stalingrad. Word has it that Stalin personally ordered for his namesake city to be lain to waste sometime before his creeping death.

On the other side of the pacific, Seattle fell to the Japanese fore runners. The entire west coast of the united states is now in Japanese hands.

Let me guess, all your troops are invincible there too thanks to aircover.

I really think stacking ground forces with air units should be banned as it is a fault in Civ2 more than anything else. We've tried that in other games and it worked rather well; just have planes attack from a different square than your troops.

                        • Air combat in this scenario is indeed flawed, as not one unit short of a super battleship is able to survive attacking a landed B17 (the reason I am in controll of the entire coast is that I could use my super battleships to bombard those cities, theoritically Case could simply fortify one B17 in every single inland city and I'd be unable to conduct any offensives at all).
Ever since you told me about those stacks I have been using them in the Russian front sure, however if you do want me to I can stop.
As for stacks in the US most of my units are hiding inside cities currently
I have also been stacking bombers with fighters but that must surely be a legit tactic?

                          • I agree that air combat is screwed up... bombers are too powerful, and fighters are too weak or too expensive.

I think it should be a house rule throughout the entire game. In real life, tanks with air cover were not 100% invincible to ground forces. This should be represented in-game, and we've used such a house rule in other games with success.

However, since this game is almost finished, if you don't want a change I'm fine with that. It's just that I had more than enough offensive forces to destroy probably all of your army in that theater, but since your Hayates made your troops impossible to touch, I had to fortify everything to get chewed up during your turns. It's just not realistic.

And yes, of course bombers can be escorted by fighters.
