            • Operation TREZUB! The fall of a capital!

In this month, Comrade Stalin reviewed the map of the front. Things have stabalized in the Balkan Front, as positional warfare has taken control of the large German and Soviet forces concentrated in the area. "Marshal Kleshnikov, we need to relieve preassure on the battle for Budapest. We cannot simply hunker down, and wait for the hordes of Germans to come upon us in that sector. We've lost the momentum from our initial successes there, and the opposing forces must only be getting stronger, as are we." He continued..

"We have a new operation planned here that will give you the breathing room you and your boys in the south require. And above this, I have just recived a report stating that the 11th Guards Heavy Tank Army with its full compliment of Kv-1's has just arrived there and is at your disposal." Kleshnikov nodded and grinned. He new that the German front was shaky at best. He also knew that his forces were becoming sufficiently powerful that his position would not be threatened. Stalin then got up from his desk, made his way to a set of pulldown maps on the wall, and pulled the one labeled: TREZUB

Stalin detailed how General Andrikov would have the 1st and 2nd Guards Tank Armies at his disposal at the point of his advance. He was to cross the Bug, and continue on while his large infantry component sured up the line behind the tanks.

Unlike Operation Chetepaka, Operation Trezub was completely enacted under the aircover of the Red Airforce. Masses of Polkiparov's clouded the sky and cleared a path for the armour's swift advance.

The troops fought as if they were Chetepaka veterans from the south, but no. For they were troops assaulting the ancient city of Warszawa. They smashed the meager troops holding the street barricades and focused on the double set of fortified bunkers within the city. These were a tough nut to crack, but eventually the bunker walls were breached by our sapper units using shaped charges. Soviet troops filled the city and took up defensive positions.

The desitnation of this new fighting force is known only in Moskva. They may swing to thenorth and invade East Prussia, or perhaps push to the south and join the battle for Budapest. However, Berlin is now only 2 cities away from the frontlines, effectively half the ground the troops in the Balkans have been able to cover in their battles against the 'mighty' Wermacht. This also makes for a tasty target as Hitler and his cronies are cowering there.

In any event, the silence in the north has been broken, and if you listen closely you'll hear the sound of T-34's.

              Warszawa captured.

              -Vasily Kleshnikov.

Tank crews of Army Group Vistula report that the new Soviet tanks are very difficult to deal with, but can be outmaneuvered once they emerge from their defencive positions.
