Thanks everyone and congratulations to Deity

Deity played the game brilliantly and props to him for that.

Thanks everyone else who contributed and made it fun. I will always think fondly of the game.

I'm working on a new civ project with chris and this gaia game will keep me busy with civ.

I hope to see you all on the battlefield when the time comes around next.

“However in the second Mongolian Wave many of our units went to the other side. However I made them pay I made them all pay, now east central Asia is a barren no mans land, so far four Mongolian cities have been destroyed, one more stands to be destroyed by barbarians and another by the Mongolian counter attack…. Which will eliminate the great wonders of the Olympics and Statue of Liberty. There is no Peace there is only destruction”

“As your sole leader I, General Tao will eliminate the Mongolian threat and push to I see the Atlantic, but first I will reestablish our capitol in this city of Beijing our ancient home, for what will soon restore Chinese Glory”

(Howitzer explosions are heard in the background as General Tao and his staff look confused)

        “Whose Howitzers are those Sergeant?”

“Sir, they are under General Xin’s control sir, they fly the flag of the old Democracy”

“Xin huh, well we shall see how far he gets send our tanks to meet him.”

And thus the Chinese Civil war begins…

I think we should keep playing it for an hour every week with just the required players online in any given week.

Just before the new diplo game start time.

EG, I have my next turn with ozzy online and he has his, then we save. Any other players around could still join in to watch the action then we can continue to play out Dame de Notre's vision...

Then the next week you'd just need (capo)/drake/Belinda/Raz.

Then Prom/deity/ozzy the week after...ad infinitum

It could work and give a really great ending.

Sorry for the quick ending guys, after a 12 hr night shift it is hard to sit through nothing happening. We really need to think what can be donr to limit end time turn lengths. Perhaps a limit on number of units. I dont know but over an hour on one persons turn is jsut too much.

I applaude the attempt at a solution deity, but that isn't what a diplo game is all about. Its about interaction and working together with all nations. Divided sessions or play by email is a reasonable solution for other games, but not this one.

                Capo Diplo-Wisdom

I explained myself and my retarded antics in the new diplogame thread, I am a f*cking idiot guys, I admit it.

But Drake's right, you can't play a Diplogame PBEM. It just doesn't make any sense. We SHOULD have been prepared for this, but at the same time I think some concessions SHOULD be made by the players to keep it steady and interesting. Sure there is war going on but c'mon, this is supposed to be fun and if you're going to take an hour to move your troops thats really a little overkill, but then again what do I know? I am an ass.

So anyway, is everyone giving up or what? What's the concensus here?

I told everyone last night that I concede the win to australia. Since there is no chance at diplomacy or a chance for anyone to change the momentum of this blood thirsty group, the Zulus bow out. This game has been reduced to a land grabbing competion. The end of the game is in-evidable and everyone knows it. Why go through the motions?

                    Drake

Its sad you feel the need to surrender, I have enjoyed this particualr game the most ofm any but hav efound Deitys 2 hour turns are too much. I am not sure how other Diplo games end , was it Space? or conquest or just Power Graph... only conquest gives a real winner the others are irrelevant...

In diplo games though i thought it mattered not only who won , but who came 2nd, 3rd 4th etc...

Perhpas before you go you should cede your citys to Mali (if Bleinda keeps playing) same for capo !!

Yes, everyones gotta play a role. I don't have a problem with that at all. I know the Zulus are a medicore nation and I am comfortable with that. Winning isn't really that important in a diplo game. But clealrly there are some that wanted to see a clear winner. That is fine. Deity flexed his muscles finally and beat me to a pulp. I concede the defeat. I concede everything in Africa as well, because I obviously cannot defend against any enemy who is blindly, hell bent on taking me out. I tried doing the diplomacy route raz. I honestly tried. But it has failed miserably....

Someone else should oversee the zulus genocide, I just can't do it.

                        Drake's right...

The POINT of the game isn't for there to be a winner, because it defeats the purpose. Diplomacy is not going to take over the world and diplomacy is not going to build a space ship. So to even say that these nations are ranked in any order is against the diplogame genre.

Even if Australia comes in and conquers everyone, he didn't win. Why not? Becuase there is not one winner in a diplogame, there is suppsed to be seven, and in this game that isn't occuring.

Come one guys, we can't just stop playing. I agree with you Drake this game has lost much of its character, and in many ways it has ceased to be a diplogame. This is dissapointing, but I would think all of you who have played in this game since February and have put your hearts into this game would want a more solid ending to it.

Everyone here knows that this is the best diplogame ever. But I feel that title won't be suitable if we just give up on it and the game falls apart like this. Other games have made it to the end, why not ours? In the history of diplogames I had hoped HOTW2 would rank at the very top, if we can't even finish the game then i feel it tarnishes this game and it cheapens the last year of devotion everyone has had for this game.

This game has been going since February! It is perhaps the longest Civ2 multiplayer game every played diplo and nondiplo alike. You all have played every week (mostly) and posted nearly daily, this game has been an obsession and a way of life since FEBRUARY. You can't just walk away from a game so close to being over now!

I know the game has changed, but there has to be some thing we can do so as not to tarnish this game's good reputation. Deity suggested we keep on fighting but limit conquest to three cities a turn perhaps, or impose a timer on the game.

My idea is that someone build the UN quick and we play it in game as bringing about World Peace. No one attacks for the rest of the game. Unit movement is cut to a strict minimum. When Deity isn't moving his 250 units around and Prom isn't moving dozens of caravans around the turns will go MUCH faster. We will all be at peace and we will follow the game out till its logical conclusion, the space race. We all just focus on building. Perhaps a three-way race for the stars, it should be pretty fun I think and quicker and it will give us a real end to the game not leave it in limbo like this.

Please consider it folks. My suggestion makes sense in character, it makes sense for our current prediciment and it preserves the quality and integrity of the game.

Thinking more about how the end game could work now.

Lets say we all freeze our borders. We've all gotten our ass kicked in by each other so no whining. Lets say Australia builds a ship on their own. Prom builds a ship on his own. And the rest of us band together to build a ship. I think it would be a darn good competition. Maybe Israel could build the ship for the "Western Coalition" and Drake, EU, Mali, and UAS could feed him cash to help him out. We would deffinatly have a fighting chance against the Australians and Chinese (who would be working individually) It would be a much quicker way to end, still be fun, still involve everyone, still be in character since we'd build the UN. It'd be perfect!

Did you miss those posts I wrote ozzy?...I made a last attempt at this idea and no one was interested in making it work. Including yourself.

I'm quite content to see the game end. By all intensive purposes it is over.
