    Planning

Ok guys, we desperately need a good session. The game is just dragging. as dangimes pointed out. I think everyone is going to be here this session and it is essential that we finish more than a single goddam round! I mean really, its just too discouraging.

Firstly, what we need is a host. I did it last week out of default, but it was obviously not a good connection. My connection just isn't good enough. So we should figure out who is the best candidate for a host and we should do it now, not the night of the game. Capo, dang and pro are at school and I'm guessing, all have some sort of high speed connection, if they live on campus and are hooked up to a network. BUT, I am not sure if there are firewall issues to hook up with them, I'd imagine there might be. I'm on a 56k dialup, as is deity, belinda and raz (I think).

What we need to do is figure this out. Ad figure it out asap. I agree with dang, it'shard to write stories and hold interest in the game, if nothing at all is going on. We need events! And a solid session is what we need......

So lets figure out who our best candidate for a host is and do it soon.

Deity says we'll be done by Christmas...but at the pace we're going at, we won't finish till NEXT Christmas (I'm not saying I want it to end, I just think the game needs to keep moving)

      Hosts

Right I am on some sort of high speed connection, however there's alot of demand on it here. It has a tendancy to time out espically at high demand hours, and guess what the game usually starts around 7 in the evening here, prime time if I do say so. But If I'm found to be the best canidate so be it, maybe I will get to move this time.

        ooc re: hosting

just to let y'all know, yeah I got 56K connect thru BellSouth...not only that, because of some kind of issues I have not been able to resolve the game will not let me host a game with more than one opponent. Mano y mano I can host all day but only one can log on to my IP. don't ask me why.
so I can't host at all, however poorly
but I can play all night. and it would be really lovely if I could get more than one turn a week. I don't have a problem with going back to the save Pro wants to use, though, even if it means repeating my last turn

Whatever save is the best to start on, to get all the crap right is fine with me. So Dangime will atleast try hosting to start with. Lets make sure he gets the proper save if he doesnt already.

Ok, we've got the entire core group here this week guys, lets make it a good one this week

              Manchester, England; European Union...

The sheeting rain cast a grim feeling over this private meeting; Charles DeGaulle looked nervously around the cozy home office of Winston Churchill, who was apparently not there yet. 'What would happen here?' DeGaulle asked himself, after all Pagniacci had died. The Dove party had no reason not to contest the elections now that their main problem was out of the picture. There was no way the Hawks could gain the majority vote now if the Doves could place an able and cooperative member of their party in the elections. Maybe Churchill himself would take the spot?

"General DeGaulle!" exclaimed a jubilant, possibly drunk, Winston Churchill as he arrogantly strode into the office "How are you on this fine English evening?"

"Very good." he replied as he stood to shake Churchill's hand "How are you sir?"

"Very nice, please sit down sit down." said the Englishman as he took a seat in a nicely decorated chair.

DeGaulle slowly and carefully sat down on the large green couch "So Winston, we apparently have something to talk about?"

"Yes we do Charles, Enzo has died as I am sure you are aware. We did have a deal, and I believe we should continue on that tangent. The Dove party can not afford to seem divided, in the event we did we would still lose, but the repercussions could be terrible." he said, as he lit his pipe.

"What do you mean?" asked Charles.

"Clearly Admiral Franco will acquire the party's nomination, our main issue is the fact that we can't afford to contend with the original revolutionary faction. Franco is not only a part of that by ideology, but also by blood." he said taking a puff.

              "True."

"Yes very, the MPs couldn't possibly avoid nominating him. If we contended with the Hawks on this one it would be a mess, at least half the party knows that we have to make a change, this neo-fascist state we are running will never survive, or succeed, the way its going now." Churchill explained.

"Well with all due respect, the Dove party can not possibly be that weak right now, at least organizationally, you have dominated European politics since Garibaldi and Bonaparte." DeGaulle said.

"That may be true, but hundreds of years may soon come to an end, we need cooperation from the Hawk party on this. The issue is the people, how they view this. If they know, if the people know, that we are in cahoots, that both parties are working together the f*cking Socialists and Communists will have a field day. We can't allow it." Churchill said taking another puff of his pipe.

"That is very true. I hear they are gaining substantial support in Finland, Uralsky and Russia. Can you imagine losing Russia to the Communists?" asked DeGaulle.

"Nationalism is a key as well, Lenin is a Russian, he may be some factory working loudmouth, but he is a Russian. The first to run in any serious way, Italian dominance of politics is slowly fading. Look at us, French and English." he said.

"Yes, but the Italians still have a very good hold on politics anyway, Russia has always put an Italian in their seats." said DeGaulle.

"That may be true, regardless. You will be Prime Minister, I'll make sure my party plays ball, the vote will have to be close. It can't seem like this was preordained. You have to understand that the people can't read between the lines. They will view our cooperation as more 'fascist' than what Pagniacci was doing." he said shaking his head "There was no way we'd develop if we allowed Enzo to remain head, dare I say this, its a good thing he passed."

"Well, then I believe we're all set. I still haven't heared word on the Western Conference." DeGaull said.

"It was shut down early, that's when Pagniacci got sick. I thought it was the food, those Zulus have strange appetites. But apparently the man smoked far too much."

"Alright Winston, then we are in agreement." said DeGaulle as he extended his hand.

"Yes we are mon ami." said Winston, as he shook DeGaulle's hand....

                OOC Message

Alright guys, yeah this sucks on more levels than one believe me.

I discovered some disturbing news about my father's condition the other day, although I should have reported it (due to the fact that it is most likely going to effect my ability to show up), I have been swamped with a lot of things and felt I had to use the free time I had for other things, namely posting stories rather than this OOC message. But I have finally realized that our new pack isn't 100% right now so there's another issue...

Luckily I'm the Capo, plans are my thing and I've got a few...

Today I have to be at the hospital because my father is undergoing a generally new procedure which has a higher than normal risk of failure factor, its not going to be mortal or anything if the procedure fails, but it will give him added discomfort on many levels. So I'm going to be there, it starts at 6, I doubt I'll be back to the DC Metro area from Baltimore after its over in time to start the session off.

However, I understand we need some good play time to get in, so I'd suggest someone get a hold of Ozzy as soon as possible. His ICQ handle is LazerKP (he's the only one so search for his handle) and his AIM is OzzyKP or LazerKP as well.

As far as the fugged up patch goes, you can DL the original at http://members.aol.com/nkreefer/hotw2.zip

Sorry about this guys, but its beyond my control.

Good luck tonight, hopefully I'll show up.

PS: Ozzy if you see this, your leader's name is Charles DeGaulle, just for storyline to playtime accuracy. Grazie.

                  Reconvened Rhiechstag meeting

Adolf sat quielty , reading over all the reports tha thad been submitted and the recommendations made by his ministers. He knew where he wanted to take the country and all he needed was the resources to do that.

"Looking at this information" he said to the gathered ministers. "It would appear we have far to travel. I have included in the reports in front of you a document dating back to 1160AD, in the times of the Great Raz I . You will see from it there are many areas we need to improve to make our country great again. And before you jump up Feild Marshall Von Bismark, I do notice we have improved in many categorys. Noticalbe improvments are Land Area up from 267000 Acres in 1160Ad to 505000 Acres today. The bad areas are the increas in pollution, I notice this daily as I travel around the country visiting the poor. We hav eto clean up the city streets, improve transportation. That is our first prioirty. The next concern is the fact in the last 400 years we have had no increase in Life Expectancy nor any decreases in diseases. These will be our new goals for the next century. Whatever has to be done will be done ".

                            OOC

Well done.. we tried a few hosts but yours worked out well.
I think it worked well because you are in an Australian capital city, even though your connection is the same as mine (56k) though I'm in the bush.

A good short session but next week Raz hosts straight up and we go 4/5 hours.....

                                Monaco, France; European Union...

Adriana walked towards the personal office of Prime Minister DeGaulle in Monaco. The city was very pretty, she had claimed it as her home in recent years, thus the journey wasn't very painstaking. The building his office was in was very modest, a new building clearly by its construction and lack of characteristics.

"Hello." Adriana said pleasantly as she placed her leather breifcase on the secretary's desk "I have an appointment with Mr. DeGaulle at three, I know I am a bit early, but I always make it a point to be on time."

The secretary simply smiled back and said "Mr. DeGaulle is expecting you, go right in."

Adriana collected her things and walked into his office, it was just as modestly decored as the entire building, with nothing save a picture of Napoleon Bonaparte and a map of Europe as its decoration. A very cheap looking black desk sat in front of a filled book case as she slowly approached, DeGualle was staring out of the window at the Mediterranean sea.

"Ah, General Alessi." he said as he walked towards her "Please have a seat." he said motioning towards a black leather couch, she sat down, he did as well not very far from her.

"So Prime Minister, what matters are at hand. I was quite busy in Moscow organizing the reconstruction." she said.

"I understand, but I have invited you here to undertake a larger reconstruction; namely the reconstruction of Europe itself." he said as he pulled a large notebook from a nearby file cabinet.

"The whole of Europe wasn't damaged too terribly" she replied "If memory serves."

"Physically no, politically its in shambles. We are by far the weakest nation on the planet, millions of soldiers have perished in the ural ranges and the mountains of the Balkans. Let alone the droves that died in the Sahara and America. Our economy is horrible now, our military strength non-existant. The only advantage we can even claim to have, if you want to use the term advantage, is the fact that none of our garrisons are out-dated." he flipped through the report and handed it to her. "Look at these numbers."

She quickly glanced at it, pretending to consider its information and placed it on the couch between them "This is a matter for Parliament, and yourself sir. There is little I can do to help this at all."

"Yes, as General that may be so. However I want to invite you to become my Secretary of the Interior. You have a great political mind, it was politics that brought you into the military, it shall be politics that brings you out."

"No, it was death that brought me into the military Prime Minister." she replied bluntly.

"That may be so, but politics played their part. Anyone could manage Russia's reconstruction, that is not an issue. The reluctance you show is disheartening, you are the perfect candidate." he retorted.

"Well Mr. DeGaulle, I will consider the offer. Its intriguing, if I said it wasn't I'd make myself a liar. But, politics have never been good to me, and I doubt they ever will."

"Just say you'll think about it Adriana, that is all I ask. You have a week before I announce my new cabinet, please be prompt in your decision..."
