    In this very game I hit hut, and an advanced civ was inside.

      Your initial land and then the surrounding terrain are the biggest pieces of luck in the game. I am not one for premade maps.... but every game someone gets screwed. Bad huts you can recover from but bad terrain is much much harder, especially if you have no trade, your virtually left trying to punch your way through another civ, and if you dont' have vastly superior tech as Smash stated earlier the odds are with the defender.
